Dual Core will be getting an update, new features possible
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Dual Core released on the North American Wii U eShop last Thursday, but Gray Fin Studios isn’t done with the game yet. The indie developer talked a bit about what’s in store during a Reddit AMA today.
The first thing lined up for Dual Core is an update, which will “address a few bugs, and balance some difficulty issues.” Features such as off-TV play, more controller options, and online leaderboards are also “likely” for the future. New modes/levels haven’t been ruled out either, but “it really depends on how well the game doe”.

Retrotainment Games opened a Kickstarter last month in an attempt to fund its new game Haunted Halloween ’86: The Curse of Possum Hollow, which features a mix of platforming and beat ’em up gameplay. It was initially planned as only NES title, but it’s now confirmed for a current Nintendo platform as well.
The $5,000 Kickstarter goal was smashed out of the park, guaranteeing the NES version. Additionally though, a $20,000 Wii U stretch goal was reached.
You can get a better feel for Haunted Halloween ’86: The Curse of Possum Hollow on the Kickstarter page here.

Yooka-Laylee gets another set of fresh details
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 6 Comments
EDGE has a lengthy feature on Yooka-Laylee this month. There’s talk about developer Playtonic, and plenty on the game itself.
One point brought up early on is that Yooka-Laylee felt “almost unrecognizable from the footage that convinced so many to part with their money.” The two main characters are essentially the same. However, EDGE says that “their world is a very pleasant surprise – significantly more substantial than we’d anticipated, with a scale and a level of detail belying the size of the team making it.”
Yooka-Laylee takes plenty of cues from the 3D platformers of old on the N64. Just like with Rare’s classic games, this one will feature spoken gibberish for the characters. It took director Chris Sutherland and composer Grant Kirkhope some time to remember how to come up with these sounds, with Sutherland noting that the team “spent a lot of time trying to figure out the timing and iterating regularly until it sounded just right.”
