BadLand Indie is publishing Ginger: Beyond the Crystal on Wii U and other platforms in 2016, the company announced today. The 3D platform adventure is developed by Drakhar Studio.

Here’s an overview of the game:

“(Ginger: Beyond the Crystal) follows a heroic young boy named Ginger whose entire life crumbled around him when an ancient crystal exploded. Thinking he is the sole survivor of his world he is astonished when he meets another lone survivor, the mayor, who explains to him that all the people who one inhabited their beloved planet have been taken to other planets and are now trapped there. Ginger must traverse the crystal to reach other worlds where he will be able to find and save his people. Along the way Ginger must reconstruct the world as he knew it by building homes for the people he manages to save. Full of mini-games, puzzles, skins to earn, and, of course, platforms you’ll spend hours aiding Ginger on his quest Beyond The Crystal.”

Ginger: Beyond the Crystal is currently on Steam Greenlight here. We’ve posted a trailer below.

Kotaku has posted a new video showcasing the first five minutes from the new game Armikrog. View it below.

This week’s North American Virtual Console release has been revealed through Nintendo’s website. Tomorrow, Wii U owners can purchase River City Ransom for $4.99.

River City Ransom takes place in River City, where our heroes, Alex and Ryan, find a letter on Ryan’s locker from a guy named Slick. The letter says that Ryan’s girlfriend, Cyndi, has been kidnapped, and Slick has taken River City hostage with the help of countless gangs and evil bosses. It’s up to our heroes to save poor Cyndi and free River City from the clutches of Slick and his underlings. You can play as Alex and take on the challenge alone or battle as Alex and Ryan simultaneously with a friend. Kick and punch to fight your way through gang members, evil bosses, and other goons. Or use a variety of weapons ranging from a chain whip, brass knuckles, and a tire, to name a few. Raise your stats by eating right, and gain new techniques by reading books. With your fighting prowess and never-ending spirit, the bad guys won’t know what hit them!

River City Ransom is also available on 3DS. Arc System Works brought out the portable Virtual Console version in November 2013.

Armikrog is out now on PC, which means that a new trailer is available. It’ll sadly be a little while longer until the Wii U version is ready though hopefully the video below can tide us over until then.

YIIK may have a chance of landing on NX. Andrew Allanson, who is AckkStudios’ co-director for the project, told Nintendo News that the port is likely to happen if the Big N’s new system supports Unity.

Allanson said:

“Oh man, I know as much about NX as everyone else. If Nintendo’s new console supports Unity, we’ll bring YIIK to it. Unity is sort of like “program once, port everywhere,” so it’s a matter of, I’d say, around six weeks per console. It’s pretty short!”

Allanson also spoke about how YIIK will use the Wii U GamePad:

“… one example is the record. When you fight with Alex’s main attack (the spinning record), there’s a Wii U-specific move called Record Scratch where the GamePad becomes a virtual turntable.”

“You can do a bunch of DJ-style things that are exclusive to the Wii U version. The other moves have been tailored, so you execute them on the GamePad as well — albeit in a slightly different manner.”

YIIK is on track to launch via the eShop and other platforms this winter.
