The Wii got off to an incredible start around the world when it launched back in 2006 – including in the UK. It maintained momentum for quite some time, but dropped off significantly over the past few years.

Wii’s downturn in sales has paved the way for Microsoft’s system, the Xbox 360, to become the best-selling current-generation home console in the UK. GfK Chart-Track says that it’s only a matter of days before the Xbox 360 lands in the top spot.

Microsoft has sold 8.4 million systems across the UK.

Angry Birds Trilogy will be heading to Wii U and Wii on August 13, Rovio has confirmed. It previously launched for the 3DS, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 last September.

Three Angry Birds games are included in the Angry Birds Trilogy: Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is selling about as well as the original Wii game did in Japan.

Data obtained by Media Create puts the title at 104,569 units sold in its first week. To compare, Donkey Kong Country Returns sold 163,310 copies in its first week on Wii.

Sell-through rates for both versions are very, very similar. Donkey Kong Country Returns originally sold through 56.63% of its shipment while a rate of 54.34% was achieved on Wii.

That should mean Nintendo initially shipped 288,380 copies of the original Donkey Kong Country Returns. On the other hand, 192,434 copies were probably shipped for Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.
