Nintendo Switch 2 360 degree render

OnLeaks is leaning into all of the Nintendo Switch 2 speculation out there with a new video that provides a 360-degree look at the system.

OnLeaks has an accurate history regarding phone leaks. It previously posted content pertaining to Samsung phones and Pixel devices.

Nintendo Switch 2 motherboard

December 31: 2024 was a big year for Nintendo Switch 2 leaks and rumors, and 2025 is already looking to continue off of that with the latest leak that has supposedly revealed motherboard pictures.

Reddit user MHN1994 posted the shots without any context. Without any sort of information, that means it’s up to the internet to once again debate whether the latest leak is real or fake.

That being said, here’s a look at what was shared:

With the imminent reveal and eventual release of Nintendo’s next hardware, it’s safe to assume that we’ll eventually be seeing more retro platforms become available on Nintendo Switch Online. And with confirmation that the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with standard Switch software, it’s also safe to assume that its Virtual Console-esque offerings won’t be starting over with the NES. Many would tell you that GameCube is the next platform Nintendo should add to their online services, and that makes sense – but given how large these games are (plus the presence of many remakes and ports on Switch, including Metroid Prime Remastered, both Pikmin games, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and more), this seems unlikely. That said, the most likely platform to come to Nintendo Switch Online would be Nintendo DS. The Wii U actually had Nintendo DS games available for download on the eShop, so there’s some precedent here. And since Nintendo Switch lacks a microphone needed to play certain DS games, it’d make sense to wait for Switch 2 to release these titles back to the public.

So today, we’re looking at several DS games that Nintendo needs to add to Switch Online if or when the company does decide to add this platform to its lineup. Note that we’re only discussing likely games here – as great as the Pokemon titles on the DS are, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll ever be released this way – especially not when Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are already available and would be backwards compatible.

Nintendo Switch 2 dock rumor

December 26: X user NextHandheld has shared a photo that could give us a first look at the dock for Nintendo Switch 2.

NextHandheld first posted a picture the main unit yesterday. That initially set off debate as to whether or not it was real, and if it was AI generated. Even so, it wasn’t entirely new as there have been various unconfirmed photo leaks previously from third-party accessory makers.

Below is that photo – which does not have the Joy-Con attached:

Nintendo Switch 2 rumors dock Joy-Con drift

The past few weeks have been absolutely nuts for Nintendo Switch 2 rumors. Something that’s been going around lately are claims from Redditor user “NextHandheld”, who says he’s not only seen the system, but was even able to get their hands on it.

We’ve not shared any of those rumors as it all just seemed a bit too outlandish, but The Verge spoke with them and now says they’ve “heard and seen enough to think they might be legit.” The Verge is a respected outlet, and in a way, is putting its reputation on the line for mentioning that. Nothing is confirmed still, but we felt that this would at least be worth sharing – and you can decide whether or not to believe it.

Nintendo Switch 2 dimensions Killswitch 2

No one is getting off of this wild ride of Nintendo Switch 2 speculation, and now Dbrand – a company that handles accessories – claims it has actual dimensions for the device.

This time around, the fun started with Dbrand announcing its “Killswitch 2” case. Along with an in-motion render of the case, it also has a hardware mockup. Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be larger than its predecessor, which Dbrand “confirms”.

Nintendo Switch 2 rumors have been hot and heavy as of late, and no, there’s no slowing down the rumor mill. This time around, supposed images are making the rounds of the device from a company that produces accessories – or cases specifically.

Fans will likely go back and worth as to whether the images are legitimate. However, what could be more interesting is to consider how the potential hardware compares to the current Nintendo Switch.

5 features for next Super Mario game

Nintendo has confirmed that we’ll be hearing more about the Nintendo Switch successor within the fiscal year, but said nothing about the launch titles for their upcoming new system. It is safe to say that we’ll be getting a new 3D Mario game at some point, although whether it’ll be a Super Mario Odyssey 2 or something entirely new is anyone’s guess. However, we have some ideas about potential new features that could be in the game – which you can check out below.

Nintendo Switch 2 reveal release timing, Kirby Planet Robobot port

More rumors have surfaced not only regarding Nintendo Switch 2’s reveal and release timing, but also the apparent port of Kirby: Planet Robobot on Nintendo’s current console.

Today’s speculation comes from the Nate the Hate podcast. NateDrake, who’s name has been out there before with Nintendo rumors and the industry as a whole, held discussion pointing to a possible Nintendo Switch 2 reveal between the second half of January and early February. Given that an announcement is expected by the end of the fiscal year ending March 2025, that’s not too surprising. Nintendo’s next financial results briefing is also planned for February 4.

Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con leak

A new leak is making the rounds that may give us a look at the design for the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con.

A video with the shots was posted to the Chinese video sharing website Bilibili. We get a look at a few different things, including snapping off the Joy-Con (at the beginning here, which is blurred, making things hard to see) instead of the current sliding mechanism.
