Wii U

D3Publisher will be distributing a new title based on the Cartoon Network animated series Regular Show, GameFly has hinted. The retailer lists “Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-bit Land” for release on the 3DS later this year.

GameFly doesn’t include many details on its product page. As mentioned above, D3P is listed as published. GameFly also says that the game will launch on October 29.

In other news that some folks may (or may not) care about, GameFly lists Ben 10 Omniverse 2 for the Wii U and 3DS. The game hasn’t been announced yet, but GameFly lists a November 5 release date.

Insomniac CEO and founder Ted Price recently said that he considers the Wii U to be more of a current-gen console. That doesn’t mean that he and his studio have no interest in the console, however.

In fact, Price himself is a fan of the Wii U, and believes high-quality Nintendo games will give a much-needed boost to the system:

“As a player what I would love to see is more of those games that I grew up with. Zeldas, Marios, Metroid – those are the games I look for from Nintendo, and I hope more of them come out for the Wii U.”

As many of you know, Take-Two Interactive secured the WWE licence from THQ a couple of months back. The company has been far from a big Wii U supporter having put out just one title for the console – NBA 2K13 – through its 2K Sports subsidiary. Although we’ve seen WWE titles on Nintendo platforms since the launch of SmackDown vs. Raw 2008, it would appear that there are no plans to bring the latest entry, WWE 2K14, to the Wii U and Wii. If anything, a release on Nintendo platforms is certainly looking unlikely at the moment.

Take-Two’s latest financial results make no mention of WWE 2K14 for any Nintendo system – only the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are listed. Retailers such as Amazon also make no mention of a Wii U/Wii version.

Take-Two/2K Sports haven’t made any announcements, so we won’t know for sure until something official is shared. Still, this is worrisome at the moment.

How much did Injustice: Gods Among Us sell in the US last month? We won’t know until Thursday when the NPD Group publishes its latest data, but research firm Cowen & Company has offered an estimate of its own.

Injustice: Gods Among Us moved roughly 424,000 units across the US in April, the company reports. Cowen & Company has reason to believe that Injustice was the only game to sell over 250,000 units. The breakdown of sales between the release platforms is unknown, but we should get a better idea on Thursday.

Shadow of the Eternals, the spiritual sequel to Eternal Darkness, is coming to the Wii U through the eShop. But wouldn’t it be nice to play the GameCube game on the console as well? Like through a VC release, maybe?

That’s the question one fan asked Precursor Games on Facebook recently. In response, the studio said it “will definitely discuss” the possibility.

Check out the full Q&A below:

Q: Is there any chance that while in talks with Nintendo you can bring up a possible re-release of the GameCube’s Eternal Darkness as a Virtual Console release? It would allow hype to build on the game and allow people who had not played before to get into the series!

A: We will definitely discuss that. Thanks for the suggestion!

Of course, there is a significant roadblock: no GameCube titles have ever been made available through the Virtual Console, and Nintendo hasn’t announced any plans to do so in the future. I’m sure there are quite a few fans who would snatch up a digital re-release, though!
