Some may say that the Wii U is on a similar path as the GameCube. Both consoles have sold comparably thus far. Nintendo has also struggled with its marketing efforts – another common element between the two.

Kyle Mercury, formerly a brand specialist, consultant, and technical director for U.S. Concepts and Nintendo of America, commented on the parallels between the Wii U and GameCube while speaking with NotEnoughShaders. You can see what he had to say after the break.

Fixie Joe is one of the first Wii U titles from Retromade Games. Originally released for iOS and Android, the new version for Nintendo’s console “will have some improvements on visuals and maybe even some extras involving the Gamepad”, according to CEO Jose Gallardo.

Retromade is also bringing Hell-IX to Wii U. Thankfully, even if the game’s Kickstarter stretch goal isn’t met, it’ll still come to the system – though the game “will be substantially delayed”.

“Yes, but the release date will be substantially delayed; this is because we need to share our time with freelance work for other companies in order to finance our own projects.”

Retromade is looking to release Hell-IX around Christmas. As far as taking advantage of the Wii U, Gallardo said the amount and type of features largely depends on how the Kickstarter campaign performs.

“This depends on many factors, as I said, we are small studio and don’t have endless funds. The Kickstarter was created to help us continue with development and if the stretch goals are achieved, we will feature more modes, levels and Wii U specifics. If we get funded or if we can find an investor, we were thinking about some upgrades like online co-operative mode. We are definitely considering touch controls, which will be used to select targets and other stuff.”

As far as what lies ahead for Retromade, the team may release more maps, “but we want to focus on other games, we have plans for a strategic game located in an alternative present and future.” The indie dev would “also like to develop an MMO based on ancient Asian mythology” as well as create a 3DS version of Fixie Joe.
