After days of waiting and several teases, Nintendo, Game Freak, and the Pokemon Company finally unveiled its brand new video game. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata made the announcement during a short, live-streamed video segment just a short while ago.
Pokemon X/Y is the newest entry in the series. As expected, they’re in the works for the 3DS – the handheld’s first true, mainline Pokemon release. Both versions feature more 3D-like visuals than ever before, new Pokemon, and more.
Never before have Pokemon games launched in all countries at the same time, but that’ll be changing with these two titles. Pokemon X/Y launch worldwide this October.
The presentation will begin in a little more than 20 minutes – 6 AM ET / 3 AM ET / 12 PM CET.
Remember, folks – the Pokemon Direct will be taking place in a few hours.
Let’s just hope the site stays together until then, since it just experienced an annoying hiccup for a couple of hours. If NE does go down for whatever reason, you can watch the presentation here at 6 AM ET / 3 AM PT. We’ll have a live-stream on the site if all goes well…

In just under eleven hours, Satoru Iwata will host a short Nintendo Direct – or “Pokemon Direct”. Iwata is expected to make some sort of big announcement relating to the Pokemon game series.
The content of the reveal is completely under wraps, but we may have a small clue as to what is in store.
Nintendo Direct pages from both Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of Australia contain a couple of 3DS keywords – “nintendo 3ds” and “3ds”. Notice there’s no Wii U there!
Tomorrow’s announcement may very well be a new Pokemon 3DS game. Most probably would have anticipated this type of reveal, but this does kind of rule out the possibility of a Wii U title. We’ll know for sure tomorrow.
The latest twist in the THQ saga has resulted in a set date in which the company’s assets will be auctioned off. This will be taking place on January 22.
As previously mentioned, Warner Bros. is one of a few publishers that could get involved. You can throw EA into the mix as well, and perhaps Ubisoft, too. Different companies may choose to purchase individual THQ franchises/games.
