After tearing down the Wii U console, it would appear some folks have managed to discover some details about the Wii U’s RAM.
The console is apparently making use of 2GB of Samsung DDR3 memory. It runs at a max speed of 17GB/s.
How does that stack up to other consoles? The PlayStation 3 runs at 25.6GB/s while the Xbox 360 runs at 22.4GB/s:
360: 22.4 GB/s + eDRAM for framebuffer
PS3: 25.6 GB/s main memory BW + 22.4 GB/s graphics memory BW, no eDRAM
Wii U’s eDRAM amount as well as speed are currently unknown.
Prior to the launch of Wii U, Nintendo of America director of product marketing Bill Trinen answered a few questions about Wii U. Trinen talked briefly about third-parties, Wii U stock, and even the console’s last-minute update that went live just a few hours before the system officially reached consumers.
For all of Trinen’s comments, head past the break.
Nintendo has staffers working around the clock to monitor Miiverse. Messages that are inappropriate are taken down, and content containing spoilers are also tended to.
The “police force” was already on the job prior to the Wii U’s official launch. Destructoid’s Jim Sterling posted the message above to the Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition community, only to have it removed around an hour later.
The reasoning for the text’s removal? “Violent Content” is to blame it seems.
There’s a reason why the Wii U update takes so long to download: it’s apparently 5GB. Yes, the console’s update really is that large.
Reports say that the download takes well over an hour to complete.

President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America Jack Tretton spoke briefly about the Wii U during the latest PlayStation Blogcast.
Tretton is wishing Nintendo success with the Wii U. He feels that the console will bring more attention to the industry, therefore benefiting gaming as a whole.
Tretton said:
“Rising tide lifts all boats. Any time there is attention to the industry, any time there is attention to gaming it’s a good thing for us.
“It takes a village of creativity to ultimately push technological boundaries. I think Nintendo has a great heritage in the business, they certainly surprised a lot of people with the success of the Wii. They’ve got great heritage in their first party development, and I’m interested to see what happens with it. But I think anything that draws attention to gaming is good for companies like us that live and die in this business, so I wish them a lot of success.”
