When Nintendo’s newest console, the Wii U, was unveiled at this year’s E3, there was no denying that the console was full of new ideas. But actual games? Not so much. Sure, there were a few titles announced by third-party developers, but it’s tough to get excited over ports of games that are already coming to other consoles or anything titled “Killer Freaks From Outer Space.” All the more reason to write a whole article doing nothing but speculate on all the series and genres we’d most like to see represented on the Wii U. If Nintendo aren’t going to announce anything, why not just make stuff up?

This information comes from the latest issue of Jump…

– Title is a “Theater Rhythm Action” game
– Set in dungeons/towns, battle scenes that resemble the side-view battles of older games in the series
– Played like a rhythm game
– Tap the screen in accordance with prompts
– Music is from past Final Fantasy games
– Characters are in a cute “chibi” style form
– Lightning and Cloud are in the game
– Has some sort of story
– Classic Final Fantasy characters looking to return light to the crystal
– No release date yet

Believe it or not, this is not a joke! It’s rather odd, but interesting at the same time. More details soon…

A lot has been said about how players can’t naturally remove saved data in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. However, as I hinted at a few days ago, this is not the only 3DS game to implement the restriction.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift II, Super Monkey Ball 3D and Pro Evolution Soccer 3D all feature permasaves apparently. It’s kind of strange to see people making a fuss over Mercenaries when there are other titles out there that were released previously with a similar saving method, though I suppose the outcry is more prominent since Resident Evil is a significant franchise.

I wonder if we’ll see any future 3DS games use permasaves. My guess would be no, or at least not many titles, as publishers would probably like to avoid the same type of backlash Capcom experienced…
