n-Space has provided official confirmation that they’re working on a handheld version of Modern Warfare 3. The game will arrive later this year along with its console counterparts.

The studio posted on Facebook:

“Here it is – the big announcement that many of you have been waiting on… n-Space is indeed developing CoD MW3 for DS! This is our 5th CoD DS product and, we hope you’ll agree, our best yet.”

Regarding the announcement, some fans have been wondering why n-Space is still working on the DS rather than the 3DS. The following explanation was provided:

“You guys all need to understand that we make the games we are hired to make. It is not our call to decide which platforms to support. Obviously we are big 3DS fans and supporters as we have 3 titles in development. If it were as simple as us choosing what products and platforms to develop for I would get a lot more sleep.”

n-Space also reminded fans that they have one more unannounced 3DS game in the works. Up to this point, Heroes of Ruin and Jaws: Ultimate Predator have been revealed for Nintendo’s new portable.

It’s a bland video… gets the point across, I guess!

This information comes from Sonic Generations producer Takashi Iizuka…

“Our team are always trying to present new gameplay innovations so it’s hard to please fans who like the gameplay from the older games. However, we have included the older gameplay as part of Sonic’s 20th Anniversary, so we think the fans of the older games will enjoy it [Generations] as well. We are also looking into continuing the Sonic 4 series which was released on WiiWare, and we’ll keep developing titles so more fans will enjoy the games.”

If you ask me, they should just look at what worked in Sonic Colors and try to build on it. Or look at the Genesis games. One thing I never want to see in a Sonic title again is a kiss with a human character…

This information comes from id Software president Todd Hollenshead, who spoke about Wii U…

“I haven’t really had a chance to sit down with [John] Carmack about it, because it’s his opinion that matters. From what Nintendo is saying, [the Wii U] looks interesting, but it still remains to be seen how it fits within how id Tech 5 would run on it, is the audience right for us to develop games on that platform.”

Hollenshead was also asked about the possibility of Rage on Wii…

“For Rage, as much as Nintendo might not like to hear this, id Tech 5 is too much tech for the Wii. We’re not doing a crappy version of Rage on the Wii. If you play the PC, the PS3, the 360 version, you get all of it. All the media’s the same. We didn’t make the crippled version that somebody wishes they had some other platform to play on.”

Well, ultimately I have to agree with Hollenshead that it wouldn’t be the best idea to bring Rage to Wii. At this point, I doubt it’d even sell much. Who says that it’d be crappy though just because it’s on Wii? id Software could technically create a new Rage experience for the platform, although that’d be a lot of work…
