The 3DS eShop has received an absolute blowout of information today. Pretty much every major news outlet previewed the new service in some shape or form. Now GameSpot has provided another bunch of details, including limits on your virtual wallet and monthly spending, search options, and more. Oh, and you’ll probably be disappointed to hear that you can’t gift games to other 3DS owners.

– Staff Pick category for the shelf
– First Staff Pick is Cave Story
– Search for games based on popular search phrases other uses have inputted
– Modify searches to retrieve more granular results by searching for game characters and genres, like puzzle games featuring Mario
– Charts include the most watched videos
– Can only carry $200 in your virtual wallet
– Can only spent $1,000 per month
– No game gifting
– eShop messaging will be done in the eShop, not SpotPass, since Nintendo doesn’t want to spam people
Does IGN know something we don’t about Nintendo’s presence at E3? That might possible, based on a tease from Rich George.
Of course, Nintendo will have a presentation on Tuesday, followed by a developer’s roundtable later in the day. But it sounds like there could be another round of significant news from Nintendo on Wednesday.
George wrote in a recent article:
“This year, expect to hear news outside of the press conference. Not only in the form of impressions, videos and a few interviews, but I would make sure you’re checking the IGN Nintendo sites on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. I will have live blogs fired up.”
As far as I’m aware, Nintendo has never delivered any additional news the day following their conference. You have to wonder what they have planned…
