From tidying up the galaxy to trying out life as a meerkat, this week’s new game downloads from Nintendo offer a wealth of wonderfully unusual activities. For the Nintendo DSiWare™ service, Flametail™ invites players to incinerate all manner of space garbage, while Don’t Cross The Line puts timeless puzzle-solving thrills in the palms of their hands. Also, Nintendo DSiWare users have just a few more days to download the hilarious hand-held battle game Photo Dojo™ for zero Nintendo DSi Points™. (Starting June 11, the game will require 200 Nintendo DSi Points for download.) Meanwhile, fresh additions to the WiiWare™ service include the new fishing-simulation sequel Reel Fishing® Challenge II and the furry fun of Lead the Meerkats™.

A new week also brings a new addition to the “Big Name Games” section of the WarioWare™: D.I.Y. series, which features downloadable microgames from some of the industry’s most talented figures. Nintendo Power™ magazine staffer Chris Hoffman is the creator of this week’s featured game, Power Surge, which asks players to locate and match various Nintendo Power staffers. New “Big Name Games” will be added every Monday through July 26, all available to download for zero Nintendo DSi Points to anyone with broadband Internet access and a copy of either WarioWare: D.I.Y. for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems or WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase software for the WiiWare service. Visit the Nintendo Channel on your Wii system today to learn more about these games.

DEFTONES MAKE ROCK BAND DEBUT, PLUS SINGLES FROM BOYS LIKE GIRLS AND CROWN OF THORNS
Guildford, UK. – 4th June, 2010 – Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that alternative rock favorites Deftones, as well as Boys Like Girls and Crown of Thorns, will make their debuts in the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and WiiTM.

With more than 400 artists, including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, AC/DC and Green Day, who are exclusive to Rock Band, as well as more than 1,500 songs available through the Rock Band platform and 68 million songs sold through its download store alone, Rock Band is the undisputed sales and content leader in the interactive music space, providing the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums.

Tetsuya Nomura spoke about all things Kingdom Hearts in the latest Game Informer, including plans for future titles. Nomura confirmed that an announcement about a new game will be made at E3. However, the project probably isn’t in development for Wii as Normua said that there are no plans to bring the franchise to new systems. So again, that’s a “no” for Wii most likely, but the DS certainly has a shot.

One has to wonder if the reveal is a remake of Kingdom Hearts Coded, a mobile phone download that is only available in Japan. Phil Synder, the new voice actor for Jiminy Cricket, has a small blurb on his site which states that his first project is Recoded. Coded never made its way to North America and Nomura told Game Informer that with this latest game, he wanted to “do something for the North American fans.” Perhaps Recoded will finally allow North American players to get their hands on Coded, albeit in remake form.
