HAVING A BLAST! THE ORIGINAL FEMALE STAR OF GAMING

-The history of Samus Aran and the Metroid franchise-

Years before the introduction of 3D gaming, the original action heroine was already ripping up the rule book and blasting her way into history. The Metroid series has given us over twenty years of girl power and the series has sold over 15 million games, thanks to its female bounty hunter star, Samus Aran.

In the mid-1980s, a young game designer called Shigeru Miyamoto was busy revolutionising the industry with Mario and a young adventurer named Link. But while he created these masterpieces, Yoshio Sakamoto and the legendary R&D1 team at Nintendo were working on one of the most ambitious projects ever seen.

THE TIME IS NOW. SAMUS IS BACK IN METROID: OTHER M.

In a Metroid game like no other, discover Samus Aran as you have never her seen before!

No need to wait any longer for the next instalment in one of the most legendary action adventure series in video game history. Metroid: Other M, the stunning collaboration between Team NINJA and the creators of the original Metroid, launches across Europe for Wii on 3rd September 2010.

Your adventure as dynamic heroine Samus Aran begins when you pick up an unidentified distress signal. Landing your spaceship and boarding the troubled mysterious decommissioned facilities will throw you headfirst into a gripping story that will have you struggling to take your eyes from the screen as the action unfolds and the true sense of Samus’s character is unfolded. The deeper you delve into the inside of the facilities, the more story is revealed – and the harder it will be to put your Wii controller down.

This information comes from Bill Sullivan, a designer at High Voltage…

“It’s easy to work with incrementally improved technology but the 3DS isn’t just another step in a set direction, it’s a completely different path. It’s very exciting to brainstorm for a system with multiple cameras, touch-screen capability, 3D visuals, and motion control. We already have hundreds of ideas for our games that break the mould and free our minds from limitations that we have had in the past.”

High Voltage has dabbled with handhelds a bit in the past, but most of their work has focused on home consoles. So I’m not too sure that the company will fully support the 3DS. Still, it’d be nice to see at least one project from the developer on the portable.

Classic Game Play, Immersive Graphics and Revealing Storyline Power New Metroid Game for Wii

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Samus Aran, protagonist of Nintendo’s Metroid™ series, is already known as one of the most iconic heroines in video game history. Now, with the launch of Metroid™: Other M for the Wii™ system today, players are about to discover more about this enigmatic bounty hunter than ever before. Combining crisp action, immersive graphics and multifaceted controls, this latest entry in the legendary Metroid franchise marks a return to classic form that will captivate fans and newcomers alike.

The result of a collaboration between Yoshio Sakamoto – the director of Super Metroid™ – and acclaimed development studio Team NINJA, Metroid: Other M thrusts players deep into an extraordinary science fiction adventure. While much of the game is played from a third-person perspective that is reminiscent of 2D side-scrollers, with the Wii Remote™ held horizontally, Metroid: Other M is a fully-rendered 3D world where players can also point at the screen to switch to first-person view. Allowing for intense action, precise shooting and detailed exploration of the game’s richly atmospheric environments, this control scheme combines classic elements with original mechanics to give players a new way to experience Samus’ latest adventure.
