– Director: “Making order from chaos. Or, pulling the enemies who were in order into chaos. Using one of the main character’s skills called ‘Gathering,’ we wanted to make a system that would let you control that type of situation.”
– Line (“Pointer”) indicates where the enemy’s focus is during battle
– Director: “This [pointer] is probably the most special feature when you see this game”
– Pointer’s color will indicate enemy type (soldier, mage, archer, etc.)
– Director: “Controlling chaos and order on the battle field ties in to victory”
– Producer: “Combat in games is the same. Ordered movements of your allies is the key to victory. But what if there were an opponent who could bring confusion to that order?”

Update: Added a few details to go along with the art.

– Images make it seem like who the enemy focuses on impacts the strategy of battle (ex: image shows the hero distracting enemies, heroine runs to other side of the field)
– Another hint is that the environment can be used in battle
– “Gathering” ability allows you to take the focus from an ally and put it on yourself (ex: heroine starts casting a spell, the enemies notice and go after her, then the hero uses Gathering so the enemies will focus on him and the heroine can execute her spell)

Hello, fine visitors of NintendoEverything.com! I’ve got one last update about these game nights before they get underway (except the post immediately before they start, of course), and it’s super important! To start, the game we’ve chosen to play, as decided by the poll, is indeed Mario Kart Wii. This means that everyone here who has Mario Kart Wii should either send me an e-mail with their friend code (if they haven’t already), post it in the “Game Nights” topic on the forum, or join the forum and post it in the comments section below.

What to do if you want to participate:
Assuming I already have your friend code, there’s just one or two simple things you have to do. To start, you have to let me or Valay know you plan on participating in this specific game night. How can you do this? Any way you can think of! E-mail us, send us a private message on the forum, or contact one of us in some other manner; all we need is to know that you want to play a few rounds of Mario Kart this Saturday! When you contact us, feel free to throw your friend code in with the message if you haven’t already and you’re too lazy to find every single one of your codes.

Come Saturday, everyone should expect to be online at 7PM CST/8PM EST/5PM PST/anything else you need to calculate. This is extremely important to ensure we get going quickly, and play as many matches as we can! During the whole thing, we’ll (hopefully) have an IRC chat going on the forum for any smack-talking or praise we need to dish out, but if not, we’ll find SOME way to communicate with each other during or between games!

Last thing: The list of who will 100% for sure be playing will be posted Saturday morning/early afternoon! When it is posted, make sure you add all of the friend codes of people in your “group” (you’ll see what I mean come Saturday), and then we’ll begin when everyone is ready! Hopefully all of this hard work will pay off, and I have a feeling it will, so stick with me and let’s have an awesome time this Saturday!

Any questions? Post them in the comments! I’ll be monitoring this post carefully to make sure I can answer everything.

Miyamoto on whether he believes that his honor is decades overdue/deserved due to Donkey Kong/Mario or more recent creations…

“I don’t really know… I think that my best work is yet to come, actually. I mean, in the past five years I’ve been working on such unusual game titles, like Wii Fit Plus or Wii Sports Resort. And, probably, ten years ago I could never have been able to imagine that I would be making games like that. I’ve really enjoyed making unusual titles like those, that can remind me that in the next ten years or so I’ll be able to have unexpected joy in creating some very different genres from what I can imagine today. That’s why I can say that the best is yet to come to me.”

Miyamoto on retirement…

“Well, I am one of the company workers and the company has to retire me some time. So from that perspective, yes I may have to retire from Nintendo some day. But when I look around and see how aged cartoonists continue to work on their manga and how movie directors create new movies all the time, I understand that they would never retire. And by the same token, I guess I will still be making games somehow. The only question is whether the younger people will be willing to work with me at that far point in the future.”

According to the independent NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States, the Nintendo DS™ family of hand-held systems – including the new Nintendo DSi XL™ – set an all-time record for portable system sales in the month of March, selling more than 700,000 units nationwide. Sales of Nintendo’s Wii™ console reached nearly 560,000 in March as post-holiday inventory began to improve. Nintendo systems accounted for 59 percent of all video game hardware sold in March.

“Demand for Nintendo fun continues unabated,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re glad so many people are able to get their hands on our systems as we prepare for the May launches of Super Mario Galaxy™ 2 for Wii and Picross 3D™ for our Nintendo DS systems.”
