ACTIVISION PUBLISHING ANNOUNCES RAPALA®: WE FISHTM, THE FIRST FISHING GAME DEVELOPED SPECIFICALLY FOR WiiTM

A Whole New Species of Fishing Game!

SANTA MONICA, CA – August 31, 2009 – Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) has announced a brand new entry in its Rapala fishing franchise, Rapala®: We Fish™ for Wii™. Slated for release on September 29, Rapala: We Fish is the first fishing title developed specifically for Wii™, featuring over-the-top fun and action-packed fishing. The game is packaged with the Rapala fishing rod and reel peripheral, letting players cast it, crank it and set the hook!

“We’ve partnered with Rapala to develop a new type of fishing game that focuses on arcade style family fun for the Wii™,” said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “Combining responsive controls with an action-packed, humorous direction, we have created a fishing game that’s unlike anything out there.”

Below is a message that a Monster Hunter 3 player received for cheating…

“Because you used modified data to connect online, you’re now banned. The ban will be lifted at 22:49 on 12/12/9999. In the future, if you violate the terms of service, it is possible that you will be banned for good.”

Cheating/hacking is something that has plagued a number of Wii titles, but it looks as though Capcom is looking to take care of any potential issue right away. Although, the year 9999 seems to be quite far away…

“All for one and one for all” is an apt way to describe the latest lineup of downloadable games from the Wii™ Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi™ Shop. Each of this week’s new titles is a single-player affair, but they’re all quite different in genre and style, offering something special for a variety of gaming tastes.

Gamers looking for a partial taste of the next Kingdom Hearts game will have to play through Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, which should be hitting Japan sometime this winter. In an interview with Famitsu, Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura stated that Birth by Sleep possesses a secret video that will provide some insight for the next game. This may remind players of Kingdom Hearts I and II, as they both had their own mystery endings. Unfortunately, Nomura wouldn’t budge when asked if he was referring to Kingdom Hearts III.

Famitsu: Do you think people will want to replay the first title after clearing this one?

Nomura: Hmmm, I think there are a lot of puzzling elements, so maybe they’ll want to play the next game…And there’ll be a secret movie too.

Famitsu: The next game!? Do you mean “III”!?

Nomura: The next game will be the next game (laughs)

white_dsi_amazon_release

One of our readers has done a bit of detective work. While looking on Amazon’s U.S. webpage, he tracked down the white DSi using the ASIN code from the UK site. The actual page still isn’t up, but doing a search shows that the white DSi scheduled to launch on September 13th in North America. This falls in line with some previous dates that we’ve heard about and presumably, the pink DSi would also release on the same day. We should be hearing an announcement from Nintendo in the near future.
