Update 3 (1/21): Both games are now up for pre-order on GameStop.

Update 2: Bumped to the top. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is showing in stock again.

Update: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is currently “sold out”. We’ll let you know if that changes.

Original (1/18): Amazon is now taking pre-orders for two new Fire Emblem games. First, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia can be reserved here. Additionally, you can reserve Fire Emblem Warriors on New 3DS right here (the Switch version is here in case you missed it).

The new amiibo based on Zelda: Breath of the Wild are now available to pre-order on GameStop. On top of that, standalone Wolf Link is up as well. They’re all located here.

In a new press release, GameStop says that it has reserved all of its first allotment of Switch systems. Over 3,900 stores began taking pre-orders on Friday.

Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop, said in a statement:

“The fact that this initial allotment has been completely reserved in a matter of a few days demonstrates gamers desire for this fun and revolutionary gaming system. We’re working closely with Nintendo to get additional Nintendo Switch units, and will let our customers know when they become available. We encourage customers to visit www.gamestop.com/switch and sign up to be get updates about the product and availability.”

As of tomorrow, GameStop stores will begin accepting pre-orders for Switch. Thankfully, it now looks like various locations are putting up notices indicating how many units they have available. The number should give consumers a better idea about the pre-order situation.

Update: To clarify how this works, it’s extra credit. Since the 32GB Wii U is trading in for $120, you could earn another $75 if you’re a Pro member, meaning $195 in total.

Original: GameStop, along with many other retailers, will begin taking Switch pre-orders tomorrow. If you have an old system lying around, you may want to trade it in for credit that can be used to reserve the new console.

Those with a Power Up Rewards Pro membership can save $75 on Switch pre-orders when trading in a Wii U, PlayStation VR, PS4, or Xbox One. If you’re a regular customer, you can earn $50.

Alternatively, GameStop will accept a Wii / 3DS and will provide $30 if you have a Power Up Rewards Pro membership. These two systems provide $20 without a subscription.

Like many retailers, GameStop has a dedicated page in place for Switch. Fans began to notice yesterday that it contained a message stating that you’ll be able to “play Pokemon at home” with the new console.

Now GameStop has removed that tidbit entirely. Actually, the full paragraph in which it was included has disappeared. Could the store have said something they shouldn’t have? No matter the reason, it’s simply not there anymore.

If the description for the Nintendo Switch on GameStop’s website is to be believed, the console has a Pokemon game in its future.

On their websites page for the Nintendo Switch, GameStop has made a rather bold claim about what future owners will be doing once they get their hands on the console. According to GameSpot, players will be able to play “Skyrim on the go, and Pokemon at home.”

Nintendo Switch games will include new title offerings from Mario, Splatoon, Zelda, the NBA and more! You will even be able to play Skyrim on the go, or Pokemon at home with the Nintendo Switch. The unit will also include a number of handy, interchangeable Nintendo Switch accessories.

This is by no means an official announcement, and it would be wise to wait until Thursday to be sure about this. Considering there hasn’t ever been a mainline Pokemon game on a Nintendo home console, this would be very big news to leak out in an advertising slip up. That being said, it’s certainly an exciting prospect.

Reddit user beyond_the_willow is relaying some information about in-store pre-orders for Switch at GameStop based on a GSO letter, which is essentially a company-wide email. Locations across the United States will apparently begin accepting reservations on January 13. Additionally, each store will be allocated a certain number of pre-orders.

While this would certainly make sense given how the Nintendo Switch Presentation is being held on January 12, we’ll still consider it a rumor for the time being. We should note that beyond_the_willow previously shared accurate information about Hyrule Edition New 3DS XL and the Animal Crossing New 3DS pre-orders in 2015.
