Since the early days of Anima: Gate of Memories’ existence, we’ve heard that the game would be released on Wii U. That’s why it was particularly strange that speculation started surfacing today that this might no longer be the case.

The rumors seem to have arisen from a couple of tweets published by BadLand Games, a Spanish distributor. BadLand essentially stated that there are no plans for a Wii U version at the moment. I’m not sure why this was said, but I can confirm that Anima: Gate of Memories is still on for Wii U. Creator Carlos García confirmed to us that the team is still planning a Wii U version.

Last week, Mobot Studios shared first screenshots from its next Wii U title. We now have a name for the project plus first details.

Blocky Bot is a game that offers a “high score-driven” mini-game experience. It features a combination of various 2D/3D styles, tight controls, level variety, and plenty of characters to unlock. Mobot has also teased “a guest appearance from another well-known eShop character, and a couple of old school contra-type codes for unlockable items”.

Look forward to more information about Blocky Bot soon.

Last June, Gunman Clive creator Bertil Hörberg suggested that the sequel could be ported over to Wii U. This is something that Hörberg reiterated on his Twitter account today.

It sounds like Hörberg originally intended to first port Gunman Clive 2 to platforms that the first game was on, followed by consoles such as Wii U. It’s not entirely clear if that’s still the plan.

Hörberg’s tweets are as follows:

The Wii U version of Cosmochoria is in serious trouble. In a Kickstarter update, creator Nate Schmold explained that he has experienced issues getting the game to run through Construct 2 on the Nintendo Web Framework.

Ultimately, Cosmochoria has been put on hold for Wii U, though it hasn’t been cancelled entirely. “The goal is to focus all my efforts on making Cosmochoria as extraordinarily dope as I can for the full launch and work towards using a successful launch as a platform to form relationships with either an outside publisher or development team in order to make a Wii U port a possibility,” Schmold wrote.

Those who backed Cosmochoria specifically for the Wii U version are being given an opportunity to request a refund. Pledges can also be transferred to the PC version.

Mobot Studios posted a couple of screenshots of its upcoming platformer for Wii U over on on its Twitter account. View them below.
