Japanese retailer expects big sales for Smash Bros. 3DS
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 23 Comments
Japanese volume retailer Tsutaya is expecting big things out of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS when the game launches in Japan next month.
Taketo Matsuo, who is the group leader of Tsutaya Game Recycle Plan, has used his experience to make rankings for the expected hit games of September. Tsutaya is known for such analyses.
Mantanweb, who reported on the rankings for September, notes that Smash Bros. 3DS comes from a hit series and it won’t feel out of place on the handheld. Since it is a game that benefits from having large screens, there may also be an increased demand for the 3DS XL as consumers may want to upgrade their original 3DS models.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is a title that players from children to core gamers can enjoy. Data gathered from pre-orders confirms that it is a game that appeals to all age groups as well. The anticipation for the game is quite high, so there is a thought that it may even break the series’ sales records
For September, it should come as no surprise that Tsutaya is predicting Smash Bros. 3DS to be the top-selling title. Below are the full hit predictions:

Hyrule Warriors sold through 57% of its initial shipment in Japan
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 10 Comments
Hyrule Warriors sold through only 57.33 percent of its initial shipment in Japan, according to a report from sales tracker Media Create. It was revealed earlier this week that the game’s debut sales came in at 69,090 copies.
Hyrule Warriors sold quite a bit less than other collaborative Warriors titles like One Piece: Pirate Warriors (655,774 units), First of the North Star: Ken’s Rage (385,295 units), and Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn (126,019 units). Still, as Siliconera mentions, it’s silly to draw any sort of comparisons. There are many factors here, such as how the Zelda values gameplay over its story and characters unlike Gundam and One Piece. And we also have to remember that the Wii U’s userbase in Japan is under two million.

Taiko no Tatsujin URL hints at new Wii U game
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 1 Comment
Bandai Namco has already released one entry in the Taiko no Tatsujin series for Wii U. A second game could now be in the works as well based on a recent discovery.
An official Taiko no Tatsujin URL, wiiu2.taiko-ch.net, currently indicates that the website is a “test page”. That’s exactly the same message users were presented with prior to the first Taiko no Tatsujin Wii U reveal. Also, if you try another domain such as wiiu3.taiko-ch.net, the page simply won’t load. This suggests that the “wiiu2” subdomain was created with an intended use.
So is this a sign that a second Taiko no Tatsujin Wii U game will be announced soon? A reveal around TGS would certainly make sense.
