Kirby Air Riders reviews roundup

Kirby Air Riders is almost ready to go on Nintendo Switch 2, and with the launch approaching, reviews are now starting to go live.

Kirby Air Riders marks the return of the racing idea that started out on GameCube over two decades ago. Also, Masahiro Sakurai is also back with a brand new game as director. While Kirby Air Riders retains the spirit of the original, it brings new content and features to the table with lots of characters, new tracks, new features, and full online play.

Kirby Air Riders: Global Test Ride has been updated to version 1.0.1. Nintendo Switch 2 users should be seeing the software update roll out now.

Nintendo has asked players to download the update before participating in the next online test. You can see the upcoming online sessions held in the graphic above.

November 5: Nintendo has just published a new 7-minute overview trailer for Kirby Air Riders. Although it’s currently only in Japanese, we should be getting an English version soon.

The video provides a quick recap of the game’s content and features. Director Masahiro Sakurai has shown off the game for almost two hours between a couple of different Nintendo Directs, but this is much more digestible.

A few months back, we compiled a list of characters we’d like to see added to Kirby Air Riders. And fortunately, several of our picks actually came true – Marx, Taranza, Rocky, and Daroach were all revealed in the recent presentation held for the game. The same video also revealed that Kirby Air Riders won’t receive any DLC – a refreshing chance of pace to receive a complete game from day one, for sure, but it also means that the base game’s character roster will be final.

At the time of writing, we aren’t sure if Masahiro Sakurai has revealed every single character in Kirby Air Riders. During the game’s Direct, it was never clarified if everything during the presentation rounded out the roster Historically – and with the exception of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Sakurai tends to leave a couple of characters hidden for players to unlock. So today, we’re looking at a few remaining contenders that we could see in the game.

In about a month, Nintendo Switch 2 will be getting one of its big holiday games in Kirby Air Riders. This week, director Masahiro Sakurai returned for a second Direct in which we were treated to a presentation that was about an hour long.

Even though this wasn’t the first Direct for the game, there was a massive amount here. Sakurai delved into various modes, features, options, and more. We even heard about things like additional amiibo and an online demo event. A helpful recap detailing everything shown can be found here.

Following this week’s Direct, are you sold on Kirby Air Riders? Do you plan on picking it up next month? Let us know in the comments.

Nintendo just issued a lengthy recap for all of the details coming from today’s Kirby Air Riders Direct 2 presentation.

The event was jam-packed with the latest information about the game. We learned about new modes, new amiibo, and much more.

Here’s the full roundup:

Kirby Air Riders DLC

Kirby Air Riders director Masahiro Sakurai closed out the game’s second Direct presentation today with a few general comments, including confirmation that he’s not planning DLC.

There’s always the chance that things could change in the future. However, at least right now, don’t expect DLC for Kirby Air Riders. Sakurai also said that he’s “not planning on making this an ongoing series.” It sounds like he went all out in making the Nintendo Switch 2 title.

Kirby Air Riders Online Test Ride

As part of today’s Kirby Air Riders Direct 2 presentation, we’ve now learned that a Global Test Ride event is happening.

If you have a Nintendo Switch 2 system and are a Switch Online member, you’ll be able to try the game for free. Demo event software will be available via the Nintendo eShop.
