If a brief statement from Legendary Entertainment is to be believed, the Detective Pikachu 2 movie hasn’t been cancelled and is still on the way. A representative told Polygon that it’s still “in active development.” However, The Pokemon Company did not indicate who is currently working on the project when asked for a comment.
Detective Pikachu 2 was originally announced in 2019, even before the release of the first one. Oren Uziel, who wrote 22 Jump Street and a draft of Sonic the Hedgehog, also wrote an outline and screenplay for this film but representatives say he’s no longer involved. Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, writers for the original Detective Pikachu, have also suggested they’re not on it.

The scene in question stems from the second trailer in which Mario and Donkey Kong are battling it out. Originally, we saw that Mario was getting the beatdown. However, in today’s clip, it turns out that he turns the tide with a power-up. After hitting the Question Block, Mario takes on his Cat Mario form.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has a few months to go until its debut (you can see the latest trailer here by the way), but it looks like McDonald’s already has a big promotion planned – at least in Japan.
A flyer is starting to be distributed at the restaurant revealing that toys will be included with Happy Meals in just a few weeks. Two (well, technically three) waves will be happening. The first features Mario, Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong. The second has Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and a character that isn’t currently named but seems to be some kind of Luma. For the third round, it sounds like all of the eight toys will be offered at the same time.

Today’s trailer highlights new characters and explains more of the plot. Princess Peach (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) and Donkey Kong (played by Seth Rogan) were both present. Luigi (played by Charlie Day) was in the previous trailer, but had actual spoken dialogue this time around. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto said during the Nintendo Direct that Donkey Kong was changed for the first time since Donkey Kong Country in order to give him a more comical personality and design similar to how his original character.
