The DLC expansion Eastward: Octopia has arrived on Switch today, and developers Chucklefish and Pixpil have shared a short launch trailer to commemorate the occasion, giving players another glimpse at what the package has to offer.

Today, Chucklefish and Pixpil revealed the final release date for Eastward: Octopia, the game’s upcoming DLC expansion. It’ll be ready to go on January 31, 2024.

Eastward: Octopia was previously announced during a Nintendo Direct in September. It was said to be launching during the holiday.

Eastward Octopia

Eastward is set to receive new DLC in the form of the Octopia expansion. This will be available during the holiday.

The DLC follows Sam and John as they start a peaceful new life as farmers in a remote mountainside village. It’ll feature crops to grow, livestock to tend to, and cooking plus holes to visit, ghosts to chat to, and a colorful cast of Eastward characters to impress with John’s new recipes.

Eastward Collector's Edition

When Eastward landed on Switch last year, it was accompanied by a physical version – but only in Japan. Now, however, Chucklefish and Pixpil have teamed up with iam8bit and Skybound Games for new boxed editions in the west.

What we’ll be seeing first is a standard release, which is planned for May 24, 2022. All copies include an exclusive Eastward chibi-style sticker.

A significant 1.1.0c update has come to the Switch version of Eastward. It comes with new features like fast travel and bookmark chapter selection, a ton of bug fixes, and quality of life adjustments.

A significant 1.1.0 update is on the way to Eastward, it’s been announced.

The game will be getting new features like the ability to start a new game from a specific chapter, fast travel, and new graphics modes. Many bug fixes and improvements are planned as well.

Publisher Chucklefish and developer Pixpil have gone live with a new update for Eastward on Switch, as version 1.0.5 is now available. It comes with bug fixes as well as a few changes.

Eastward gameplay

We have new gameplay from Eastward, an adventure game from publisher Chucklefish and developer Pixpil. The title is landing on Switch today.

Here’s some information about the game:

Eastward

Eastward has thus far only been confirmed as a physical release on Switch in the west – at least at launch. But in Japan, it will be distributed by Kakehashi Games and will have two different boxed versions. Alongside a standard copy, fans will be able to pick up a collector’s edition.

The Eastward Collector’s Edition features a couple of physical goodies. Aside from the game, buyers will be given the original soundtrack and a mini figure. Note that all physical copies include two sticker sheets and reversible boxart.
