First week sales for Disgaea 5 Complete, I Am Setsuna in Japan

Some third-party Switch games are off to pretty decent starts in Japan. On the other end of the spectrum, Disgaea 5 Complete and I Am Setsuna have started off slowly.
It was a bit worrying when both titles missed Media Create’s initial software chart for the week of February 27. When the expanded chart came in, we saw that I Am Setsuna and Disgaea 5 Complete were positioned at the 22nd and 26th spots respectively.

Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 32 Comments
Super Bomberman R didn’t set the sales charts on fire when it debuted in Japan last week, but it still managed to do fairly well. Even though it only sold around 37,000 copies, it was the best-selling third-party game on Switch.
Looking into Super Bomberman R’s sales further reveals an interesting fact. It actually had the best opening week for the series in nearly twenty years. It’s also one of the best openings for the series as a whole.
Here’s a look at previous first week sales for Bomberman games in Japan:

UK retailers sell out of Switch units, stock levels a concern
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 24 Comments
By all accounts, Switch did well for its launch in the UK. The system reportedly sold 80,000 units during its opening weekend, which doubles up on Wii U. Switch may have sold even more if additional stock was available.
HMV head of technology and games Phil Browes told MCV that Switch’s launch was “fantastic”. He also said:
“We satisfied all pre-orders and blasted through the remainder of our initial allocation. Every single one of our pre-order customers received their console on launch day, and we’re optimistic that with some great games due to be released, Switch can establish itself as a successful third console in the market. We’re a bit tight [on stock] but we’re looking forward to more deliveries this week.”
Switch sold through 95% of its initial shipment in Japan
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 77 Comments
Various information about Switch’s debut sales have been coming this week. In its first three days, the console is estimated to have sold around 330,000 units.
Dengeki now reports that Switch sold through 95 percent of its initial shipment. Given that, as well as how it’s tough to find in stores, the system’s first shipment is almost entirely depleted. That means when next week’s sales are reported, Switch is likely going to have a major drop off – so don’t panic when you see the numbers.
By the way, on another interesting note, Dengeki says that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has an attach rate of 60.8 percent with Switch. That’s higher than the rate for Twilight Princess and Wii at 35.9 percent.

Switch is Spain’s best console launch in history
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 29 Comments
According to a new report from Vandal, Switch is now Spain’s best console launch ever. The PlayStation 4 was the previous record holder, but the torch has been passed to Nintendo’s system having sold 45,000 units in its first three days.
Switch seems to have sold through almost its entire batch of stock in Spain. Roughly 50,000 units were shipped to the country, resulting in a very high sell-through rate. More units should be making their way to out Spain in the weeks ahead.

Switch sells 105,000 units on release date in France, best launch for a console in history
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Wii U | 17 Comments
Sales data is in for Switch in France. According to Le Figaro, the new system sold 105,000 units when it released last Friday.
Similar to the Americas, Switch had a record-breaking launch in France. It’s not only the best result ever for a new Nintendo console, but also the biggest launch for consoles as a whole.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was picked up by nearly all new Switch owners in France having sold 96,000 copies. Given that number, it’s an attach rate of over 91 percent. Breath of the Wild also sold 34,000 copies on Wii U.
