switch sports sales japan

The usual Japanese sales data that we typically see on Thursdays has been delayed due to holidays this week (Golden Week), but we do have a bit of news about how Nintendo Switch Sports debuted in Japan.

Early data has revealed that the game sold 190,000 copies. It goes without saying that it was the best-selling title in Japan last week.

Original (5/1): This week’s UK software sales, and we have news about the debut of Nintendo Switch Sports.

The title managed to come out on top, beating out all other games during the past week. However, it had the series’ third biggest launch behind Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resorts. According to GfK data, Nintendo Switch Sports has sold less than half of what those games did during the launch week.

The latest Japanese hardware sales from Famitsu are as follows:

According to the latest NPD report, Switch was the best-selling hardware platform in the United States for March 2022 in terms of unit sales. However, Xbox Series led the way in terms of dollar sales. The Xbox Series X costing significantly more at $500 partially plays a role in that.

With March concluding the first quarter of 2022, we also get further insight there as well. As it turns out, things are exactly the same. During Q1 as a whole, Switch led the way in the U.S. when it came to unit sales, but Xbox Series came out on top for dollar sales.

We also just reported on the latest results for software sales in the U.S. In case you missed it, you can find the top 20 here (featuring the debuts of Kirby and the Forgotten Land as well as Triangle Strategy). We also have a look at the best-selling games year-to-date and last 12 months here.
