Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse

WayForward has confirmed on Twitter that the New 3DS update for Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is launching in North America tomorrow. Previously, the patch came to Europe last week.

WayForward’s tweet is as follows:


The Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse New 3DS update adds a couple of features. Here’s a brief summary from WayForward:

-Use ZL or ZR to quickly swap between Inventory and Map screens.
-Use the Right Control Stick to “Quick Select” your magic and items.
-Tap the Touch Screen at any time to revert to Original controls.
-Owners of original Nintendo 3DS or 3DS XL can also access these features by connecting the Circle Pad Pro accessory.

A free update for Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is out today in Europe which adds some New Nintendo 3DS-specific features to the game. The specifics of the update are as follows, according to developer WayForward:

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse finally has a release date for Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. WayForward confirmed on its Twitter account today that the game is due out on February 5. This applies to both versions of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse – Wii U and 3DS.


Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is a 322 MB download on Wii U. How does that stack up to the 3DS version? On 3DS, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse eats up 2,315 blocks of space, which translates to roughly 289 MB.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is launching for Wii U next week. Today, WayForward confirmed that the game will be available on December 25 in North America.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse previously released for 3DS back in late October.

Like the 3DS release, Shantae will cost $19.99 on Nintendo’s home console. Here’s a look at the Wii U features:
