Splatoon 2

Splatfests were thought to be done in Splatoon 2, but last month, Nintendo announced that they would be making a return with one special event. The topic of mayonnaise vs. ketchup has come back again after mayo won the first time around. As is tradition for Splatfests, Nintendo has created a unique piece of art, which we have above.

The mayonnaise vs. ketchup Splatfest rematch will be held in Splatoon 2 this weekend.

Splatoon 2 Splatfest - mayo vs. ketchup

Splatoon 2 was thought to be finished with Splatfest last July. However, Nintendo has just announced that it will hold a bonus one-off event next month.

The returning theme is mayonnaise vs. ketchup, which Nintendo says it was “so contentious that we have to do it twice”. It’ll be up and running on May 22 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET. Like previous Splatfests, you can participate for full two days.

Last week, Nintendo put out a notice on social media that a new Splatoon 2 update was available, but deleted the message soon after. It was a clear sign that we’d be getting a patch for the game pretty soon.

Splatoon 2 might be getting a new update soon. On Twitter, Nintendo made a post about the patch, but deleted it shortly thereafter. It’s likely that the message was posted earlier than it should have been.

We know that the major updates for Splatoon 2 are over, though Nintendo has still carried out weapon adjustments. The social media post did state that the latest patch includes “minor adjustments to a variety of weapons.”

We’ll keep you posted on any new Splatoon 2 updates in the future.

Nintendo celebrated Valentine’s Day last month with a special piece of Splatoon 2 art. It’s White Day in Japan (and other countries) now, so we have an equally lovely design for you above.

Valentine’s Day and White Day tend to go hand in hand. Those who received gifts on Valentine’s Day have a chance to reciprocate by giving back gifts of their own.
