The Legend of Legacy

The Alliance Alive is FuRyu’s next 3DS RPG following The Legend of Legacy. In this week’s Famitsu, it’s explained how the two games differ.

World Setting

In The Legend of Legacy, the game takes place entirely on one island named Avalon, which only has one city known as Initium. Dungeons are scattered all over the island, and the objective is to find relics of the gods.

However, with The Alliance Alive, an entire human world is split into numerous zones, each of which has unique developments with the demon clan ruling over humans. When the nine protagonists from the separated zones gather, it will mark the beginning of an adventure to unveil the world’s hidden mystery.

The Legend of Legacy is currently on sale over on Amazon The RPG has been discounted to $26, down from the original $40 asking price. You’ll save $14 with a purchase.

The Legend of Legacy is coming to Europe on February 5, NIS America announced today. The game will be sold as a physical release and as a digital title on the eShop.

At first glance, The Legend of Legacy seems to be an amalgam of things – and it is. Legends are brought together to bring you this title in the form of Final Fantasy XIII composer Masashi Hamauzu, Chrono Trigger writer Masato Kato, SaGa illustrators and designers Tomomi Kobayashi and Kyoji Koizumi, with the inclusion of many other former developers from Square and Level-5. You can feel the influence and inspiration of The Legend of Legacy exude from all of these creators, allowing the game to thrive and revel in it artistically.

Atlus has been saying for awhile now that some improvements were made for the western release for The Legend of Legacy. We’re less than a week away from the game’s arrival in North America, and we finally have information on this front.

Most of the adjustments pertain to New Game+. Here’s the news straight from Atlus’ John Hardin:

  • In NG+, all the money and formations you designed now carry over. Any special weapons you created will also be available to purchase in the shop.
  • Drop rates for items and materials was increased across the board. Drop rate for rare items goes up in subsequent NG+. FICTITIOUS EXAMPLE TO ILLUSTRATE THIS POINT: The made-up drop rates for a rare item could be in the first 1st Game – 1%, in NG+ 5%, NG++ 8%, NG+++ 10% etc. Let me stress that these numbers are made up and I have no idea what they are for actual items.
  • Finally, the time it takes the trade ship to return is decreased substantially. The ship uses real-world time, and we’ve decreased the amount of time it takes to return.

We’ll have a review up for The Legend of Legacy later today!
