[Interview] The last ZombiU interview you’ll see before launch
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Interviews, Podcast Stories, Previews | 0 comments
There are a lot of Wii U launch games coming out on Sunday, but none of them are quite as hotly anticipated as Ubisoft Montpellier’s ZombiU. This isn’t necessarily because we all think it looks incredible (which, admittedly many of us do), but there’s a certain excitement surrounding it that isn’t present when talking about New Super Mario Bros. U or Scribblenauts Unlimited. It’s a new IP, for one, but it’s also a return to the survival horror styles of yesteryear, and it uses the Gamepad more interestingly than any other launch title, bar none.
Even if you forget about all of that, though, the concept alone might be enough to call ZombiU the zombie game we’ve been dreaming about for years.
[Update!] NintendoEverything’s Wii U launch day plans
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Site updates, Wii U | 0 comments
Well well well, just 24 hours until the midnight of November 18th here in Minnesota. Needless to say, I am pretty darn excited! That being said, me and the podcast crew have an awful lot of stuff to get done both before, on, and after that day, so I figured I’d fill you in on our current plans for tomorrow, Sunday, and beyond:
November 17th
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two Review
This review will cover the Wii version of the game, reviewed by Austin.
Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion Review
3DS game, reviewed by Laura.
The Wii U Metacritic Score Predictions Game!
Austin will try and guess the arbitrary review score numbers of every Wii U launch title, courtesy of the only-slightly-evil website Metacritic. We’ll check his accuracy next week…
November 18th (Launch Day!)
Here’s a Podcast – Episode 16!
Primarily focused on our impressions of everything Wii U-related, the sixteenth episode of “Here’s a Podcast!” should be recorded and posted by 10PM Sunday night.
8PM EST (6PM PST): Wii U Livestream
Similar to what we did for the Extra Life 24-Hour Gaming marathon, Austin, Jack, Laura, and potentially one or two others will spend a few hours playing various Wii U games, taking questions, talking to you guys, and playing games requested by people.
The Following Week/Weekend
ZombiU Review (Austin)
New Super Mario Bros. U Review (Jack)
Nintendo Land Review (Laura)
Scribblenauts Unlimited Review (Austin)
Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed! Review (Someone)
The Future…
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two Wii U Review (Austin)
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Review (Austin or Jack)
Batman: Arkham City ARMORED EDITION YEA Review (Austin)
If you have any questions, requests, or want us to move stuff around, please comment or let us know somehow. We are here to accomodate you as best we can! Thank you!
Next ‘Inazuma Eleven’ game is getting back to its roots?
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in General Gaming, General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Fans of the soccer RPG Inazuma Eleven will be pleased to hear that a new game is in the works, and Level-5 CEO is saying that it will return to the “origin”. No exact word on what that means (translations are tough!), but I would guess he just means it’s getting back to its roots as a franchise.
Keep your eyes peeled– we’ll likely hear more shortly.

NA release of ZombiU has English, Spanish, French, and Brazilian language options
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
“The subtitles are linked to the language of the audio you choose to play the game in. If you play in English you’ll read English subtitles. The other versions available in the Americas include Spanish, French and Brazilian. The team created the game in English and our localization teams translated and recorded the script 9 languages worldwide.” – ZombiU co-creative director Florent Sacré
A NintendoEverything reader requested that I ask about this issue when I e-mailed Florent yesterday, so I figured I’d post of the results as a separate news story. The whole interview/preview will be coming later tonight. I’m glad that the game supports four different languages in its North American release!
Dragon Quest 7 3D – New Streetpass details
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
– “Special tablets” shared over Streetpass are similar to the treasure maps from DQIX on DS
– Share these tablets to locate treasures
– New “special” tablets give you a clue to access new places and treasure
– Decipher the clue (ie, “deep, isolated cave” and “slime-laden forest”) to find the new area and retrieve the treasure
Scott Moffitt says that the Wii U’s deluxe Set is selling extremely well
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing (and guy-who-sort-of-sounds-like-a-nursery-rhyme-character) Scott Moffitt said that the response to the Wii U deluxe set has been extremely positive, and he thinks it means Nintendo priced it properly:
“All I can say is that the response has been phenomenal and we’re getting, especially in the higher priced deluxe set, that one’s selling out incredibly quickly. That seems to indicate that the pricing’s in a good spot and the proof is in the consumer response.”
He also went on to reiterate that while initial demand seems to be higher than it was for Wii, Nintendo will also have “more systems on hand for the Wii U than we did for the launch of Wii” and that “replenishments will be more frequent this holiday time than during the Wii launch.”
All in all, we can expect some shortages, but nothing on the level of Wii. At least not yet!
[Preview] Getting past the hype: How good does ZombiU really look?
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features | 0 comments
First you’re skeptical. Then you’re excited. Then you’re REALLY excited. Then you’re skeptical.
It’s a vicious cycle that constantly churns within you whenever something exciting is about to launch in the video game world. Be it a game or a console, you will find yourself one day nearly shaking with anticipation, and the next ferociously scouring the internet for reasons why it won’t be as bad as you’re worried it will be.
This is exactly where I am with ZombiU today.
Research firm IHS predicts strong Wii U sales that will taper off after 3 or 4 years
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in General Nintendo, News, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
The quotes here are kind of long and boring, so here’s the bullet-point version, with quotes after the break:
– Research firm is “IHS Screen Digest”
– They predict 3.5 million Wii U sales this holiday, outselling Wii
– This is mostly due to Nintendo “evangelists”
– They expect long-term Wii U sales to be about 70% of Wii sales
Hit the break for the specific quotes.
