In yet another homage to classic Zelda games, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d you steal our garbage?!! will let you replay the game on a harder difficulty upon beating it the first time. If they’re taking as much inspiration from Zelda’s “second quest” mode as we can hope, chances are it will also be absolutely mind-numbingly difficult.

A demo of the game arrives on the Nintendo 3DS eShop on November 15th, and the game comes out on November 20th.

Some bad news for you guys: Valay just texted me and let me know that he finally lost power entirely, which means he is completely unable to access the sites (NE and GE) until further notice. The small glimmer in this otherwise dark patch is that I live in a completely different part of the country, so I should be able to keep things updating as they normally would. Things might be a little slow at times (I’m not used to this schedule; apologies), and I might miss certain things (if you have a tip, please use the contact form and send it to me; it’s a great help!), but for the most part I’m hoping you guys barely notice a difference!

Wish me luck in posting, and wish Valay even more luck in getting his power back. I’d imagine he’s already bored out of his mind!

Well, I’m pretty surprised I hadn’t heard about this before today! Apparently Gamestop is debuting a new kind of store called “Gamestop KIDS” that will be focused on selling age-appropriate content to people who want to either buy games for their children or to children who want to buy games for themselves. All of the games will be rated “E” (“E 10+” is probably a given as well), and there will be a heavy emphasis on including various bits of swag (plushies, foam toys, accessories, etc) alongside the games.

So it will be like a toy store mixed with a Gamestop, and yes, the logo is as 90s as you’d imagine:

I’m not writing out the minutes this week because it’s late and I’m tired, but I think you guys will find this episode up to par! We talk news, introduce a new segment (“This week in news… five years ago!”), and then rush through the last three segments because we realize news/what we played took way too long! Good stuff overall.

Edit: As Chris pointed out, technically you don’t have to buy anything– you can request a code and receive it via email!

We all know that Burger King has Wii U/Nintendo toys starting today, so it should come as no surprise that the fast food chain is teaming up with Nintendo to give away four hundred and ninety (that’s 490) Wii U Basic Sets (the white ones) between now and December 2nd. Don’t get too excited though– even if you win, you won’t receive your system until sometime in January or February, and you have to buy something from Burger King in order to obtain a code to enter on their official site.

Still, pretty good advertising for Nintendo! I really hope this “Wii U” thing works out for them…

In an homage to (or perhaps parody of) the upcoming ‘Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale’, mod community ‘KittyCorps’ has put out arguably their biggest mod ever (at least in a while), consisting of 26 characters mimicking those that will appear in Sony’s upcoming brawler, plus a few others. The fighters are as follows:

Kratos, Fat Princess, Cole McGrath, Heihachi Mishima, Toro/Kuro, Parappa, Big Daddy, Nathan Drake, Sweet Tooth, Sly Cooper, Jak, Sackboy, Dante, Ratchet, Spike, Raiden, Nariko, Sir Daniel Fortesque, Snake, Isaac Clarke, Commander Shepard, John Marston, Kazuya Mishima, Lara Croft, Niko Bellic, and Tomba.

Now, the models aren’t perfect and the gameplay is far from flawless, but hey… at least it functions! You can read more about the game via the source link.

EA was discussing how ‘Origins’ would function on Nintendo’s upcoming console when they– perhaps unintentionally– let slip a few details regarding what people can expect from Wii U’s online offering:

– You need an Origin account to play EA’s titles online
– You have to transfer some information to EA in order to use Origin
– Information includes Mii information, email address, Nintendo Network ID, friend list, country, language, and date of birth
– You do not have to transfer any financial or credit card information

The thing to note here is that “Nintendo Network ID” has taken the place of “Gamertag” and “online ID”, which were the phrases used in the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 descriptions of ‘Origins’ respectively. Additionally, “Mii Information” seems like a bit of a silly thing to need… but who knows!? We’ll see if anyone retracts or changes their statements now that a deal is being made about it.

Watch it from the beginning here!

Well folks, that was a LOT of fun. Admittedly we didn’t hit our goal, but we still raised a hundred and a half for charity, which is pretty dang awesome for not only our first charity event, but our first live-stream AND “Let’s Play” events ever all rolled into one big… thing. I really want to thank everyone who donated, watched, chatted, commented, or even thought about doing any of those things. I really, truly appreciate it! I actually want to give a special shout-out to the few folks who stayed up absurdly late, chatted with us via the uStream chat, and helped fend off the exhaustion by a few more hours.

If you missed it but you have a passing interest in seeing one of the many games we played (Mario Party, Brawl, Goldeneye 64, Banjo Kazooie, Warioware, etc etc etc), you can actually watch almost every single bit of it via uStream for a limited time. There are lulls in the action (it’s unedited so it includes eating time, figuring tech out time, etc etc), and a few parts didn’t get recorded, but I think you could find things worth seeing. Especially once the entire gang rolls around in late part 2/part 3.

Watch them all here!

These will only be up for a limited time as I only have so much space I can use on uStream without paying (expect them to be there for about a month), but I plan on editing together a “highlight reel” to entice other folks into watching future streams. You’ll notice some issues with this stream if you watch bits, and I wanted to list them so you know they are technical kinks that we learned from for future reference:

– Audio levels (vocals vs. game audio) were poor in the beginning.
– We will be buying a proper vocal mic for better audio quality as well.
– Video got choppy when playing Brawl (the ONE game it would be worst to have choppy, haha)

Aside from that, things went really well from a technical standpoint. Thanks for hanging out, guys!
