Nippon Ichi Software surprised fans earlier in the year by announcing Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, which means the original game is finally getting a sequel after twenty years. In a recent interview, the company explained how it came to be.
Interestingly, it sounds like NIS didn’t really attempt making a sequel previously. Things were only set in motion after a western poll showed the popularity of Phantom Brave’s characters.

According to comments from former Nintendo of America employees, there was “a lot of drama” and “headbutting” surrounding the Switch reveal video, including from people high up at the company.
The video we’re referring to is the one that came out eight years ago, giving everyone a first glimpse at the system. It showed various scenarios and ways in which Switch can be played. The video brought us the well-known “Karen” rooftop meme, showed a glimpse of Super Mario Odyssey for the first time, and more.

This was a bit of a strange week for Nintendo news. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition was announced out of nowhere, and then on Wednesday, the Nintendo Music app / service was announced.
If you’re a Nintendo Switch Online member, you can use Nintendo Music right now. An app has been released on mobile that lets you listen to tracks from a number of different games. Over time, more will be added. Nintendo also included some features to make the app a little more interesting. We covered it all here.
Clock Tower: Rewind gameplay

This Is Fine: Maximum Cope, a new game based on the famous meme, has been confirmed for Switch.
Numskull Games managed to secure funding for the project on Kickstarter during the campaign’s final hours. Fans helped to raise around $50,000, and there are plans to release it on Switch.
So how is the team turning the meme into an actual game? Numskull Games is planning it as an adventure platformer, and worries have manifested into a physical form. The title revolves around facing the perils of your subconscious.
Disney Music Parade Encore announced for Switch

August 27: During today’s Japanese Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, Disney Music Parade Encore was announced for Switch. It’s due out on November 21, 2024 in Japan and December 12 in Asia. The Asian version seemingly supports English.
Disney Music Parade previously released on mobile in 2021. The rhythm action game has scenes from Disney and Pixar films, and players use the touchscreen to tap and swipe in time with the music. Various songs such as “A Whole New World” And “Under the Sea” are included. Four players are supported locally.
