Spirit of the Island

PID Games, in partnership with Meta Publishing and 1M Bits Horde, has announced Spirit of the Island for Switch. There’s no word on release timing currently.

The title kicks off with players ending up on a distant island, which was previously populated by tourists. It’s now your mission to bring it back to life by exploring the archipelago, chatting with locals, and helping them restore the land. Oh, and you’ll have your own mysteries to discover from your past.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line Final Fantasy future

The developers of Theatrhythm Final Bar Line have weighed in on the series’ future. This could be the end… or perhaps not.

Series director Masanobu Suzui and producer Ichiro Hazama recently spoke with Dengeki Online, and said that Final Bar Line is intended to be the last game in the series. However, Hazama did acknowledge that things may not necessarily end if fans show their interest. It was also shared that Nomura came up with the new for the new title.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Majora's Mask comparisons

The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has weighed in on comparisons fans have drawn between Tears of the Kingdom and Majora’s Mask. This comes as part of an interview with Polygon.

Both titles are built based on their predecessors, but Aonuma was quick to point out that with Tears of the Kingdom, it was “the opposite sort of challenge”. He brought up how with the new Switch title, Nintendo “took the same world and some of the same materials, or constituent parts, but needed to make it [all] bigger, and needed to create a more expansive world”. That goes for both a horizontal and vertical sense.

Aonuma explained:

The moment many Nintendo fans had been waiting for finally happened this week – we’re of course referring to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launching. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: this is a huge release for Switch and one of the most notable titles of 2023 for gaming in general. It’s been six years since Nintendo came out with Breath of the Wild – the series’ most successful entry – so it’s understandable how much anticipation there’s been behind it.

Although it’s not been terribly long since Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom arrived given how it just came out yesterday, many of you likely have been sinking your teeth into it by this point. With that in mind, we’re interested in your early impressions. If you picked up the game, how are you feeling about it so far? How do you think it compares to Breath of the Wild?
