DICE tech director says Frostbite 3 never ran on Wii U, Frostbite 2 test results were “not too promising”
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
DICE hasn’t managed to get Frostbite running on Wii U in any form.
Forget Frostbite 3. The studio hasn’t even had much luck with Frostbite 2.
A twitter exchange between DICE’s Frostbite technical director Johan Andersson and a fan reveals that the company’s attempts to run Frostbite 2 smoothly on Wii U haven’t exactly been proven fruitful. Some tests were done, but the results were “not too promising”, according to Andersson.
@mutedpenguin FB3 has never been running on WiiU. We did some tests with not too promising results with FB2 & chose not to go down that path

Star Wars: Battlefront III QA says Wii version was in the works, talks up Wiimote controls
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
Free Radical Design – before it became Crytek UK – was working on the much-anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront III. The project was eventually canned, though the exact reasons behind this are slightly murky.
You may be interested to hear that Star Wars: Battlefront III was once in the works for Wii alongside other HD versions. A former Free Radical QA staffer, who discussed the game during a recent Reddit AMA, spoke highly of Battlefront III’s use of the Wiimote:
“It’s a small thing, but the controls on the Wii were fantastic. Blasting someone with your Wiimote was up there in the list of cool.”
And when asked about how Star Wars Battlefront III’s Wii visuals stacked up to the other versions, the former employee said:
“It obviously wasn’t HD and the graphics weren’t there compared to the rest but it was the gameplay on the Wii that really made it.”
It’s a shame that we’ll never get to experience a fully-made Free Radical Star Wars: Battlefront III game. I would have liked to give those Wiimote controls a go!
