Monster Hunter 3 released for Wii in Japan a few months ago, but could another game be in development? A scan of the most recent issue of Famitsu has popped up and it’s rumored that the page confirms a new Monster Hunter title. Supposedly, voice actress Aya Hirono said she’s busy with a project in the series. She didn’t mention which one and some are starting to believe this could be a new brand new Monster Hunter game. I can’t confirm the validity of her comments, though, so you should consider this a rumor for now.

The Spike TV Video Game Awards have received a lot of attention as of late. Geoff Keighley, the man in charge of the show, has been pumping up the event with teases over the past few days. The VGAs will be taking place later today, but Keighley has one final tease for fans before it all starts. On his official Twitter, he wrote that the biggest surprise in the history of the VGAs will be shared, and it’ll be revealed basically as soon as the show starts.

“Do not miss the first five minutes of the VGAs for our biggest surprise premiere in VGA history!”

I don’t really think this will be Nintendo-related necessarily, but it should be interesting if you’re a fan of gaming in general.

Right now, we don’t know much about Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Ubisoft has said that the game will continue the Sands of Time storyline and that it “is scheduled to be released May 2010 for consoles and handhelds.” Unfortunately, the company has yet to specify which systems the title will land on. GameFly, however, has provided a clue as to where it’ll end up.

According to the retailer, Forgotten Sands will be releasing for the Wii, DS, PS3, Xbox 360, and PSP. I’m inclined to believe this information because GameFly has been spot on with things like this in the past. But seeing as how Forgotten Sands will be present at the Spike TV Video Game Awards tomorrow night, it’s more than possible that we’ll receive a confirmation about this information very soon.

committee and Koelnmesse prepare for the event in the coming year

Cologne – “Together with our partners we intend to pick up on the success of the gamescom premiere in the coming year and successively expand on the largest event and entertainment highlight for interactive games and entertainment.” With these words, Oliver P. Kuhrt, Managing Director of Koelnmesse GmbH, and Olaf Wolters, Managing Director of the German Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU), summed-up the first meeting of the gamescom advisory committee, which met last week in Cologne. Together with the BIU, the other advisory committee members including members from the city of Cologne and from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Koelnmesse analysed the gamescom premiere and derived the potential for the coming event scheduled for 18 – 22 August 2010.

Over the past few weeks, GameTrailers has featured teaser trailers of new games that will be completely unveiled at the 2009 Spike TV Video Game Awards. Up to this point, ten games have been announced. When the first VGA news hit the internet, it seemed as though only around eleven games would be at the event. This is not true, however. Geoff Keighley has stated that there are “definitely more than 11 games to show,” which means that the VGAs will be filled to the brim with new titles.

On the Nintendo side of things, right now, it looks as though only one or two games may be for the Wii. And while I don’t expect any announcements from the Big N themselves, perhaps there will be a surprise or two from a third-party.

“Technology actually was not a major concern for us when we decided to use the train. In The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, the boat was the key mode of transportation. Now that Spirit Tracks takes place on land, we needed a new way for players to get around, and felt that the train offered the best sense of exploration and discovery. We don’t think it feels out of place in the game world. Trains are also a popular mode of transportation in Japan. My children and I still feel a great sense of adventure when we ride trains in Japan. Regarding use of other forms in technology in the future, as long it adds to the overall game experience and is something we feel the player would enjoy, we wouldn’t be afraid to implement it. As a matter of fact, we have used the Hook Shot in several previous games, which would be considered a very modern type of technology, even by today’s standards.” – Eiji Aonuma

When you think about all of the Zelda games, the technology used in the series has become more modernized as additional titles were released. To be honest, I was a little surprised when the first trailer of Spirit Tracks was released, which showcased the train. Is there any piece of technology in particular you guys would like to see in a Zelda game?
