Disney really seems to be publicizing Epic Mickey!

This information comes from Capcom’s European senior director of marketing Michael Pattison…

“Capcom is very proud of its multi-million selling established franchises such as Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter. But we’ve also got some other franchises in our locker which we’re going to re-establish on the global stage in the near future. We’re not going to rest on our laurels and even with established franchises we’re going to try new things. We have quite a few surprises up our sleeves as we look to bring back some much-loved brands, create new ones and innovate with our existing line-up. I believe our fans will be happy with what we’re planning.”

Capcom recently stated that they have a few surprises up their sleeves for E3. Because of that, the chances are high that we’ll see one of the games that Pattison was referring to. The question is, will any of these classic franchises land on the Wii or DS? Or even the 3DS?

“I think it is because Japanese RPGs were really never all that popular in the west to begin with. I think the best way of interpreting things is that they aren’t getting less popular; they weren’t very popular from the start.” – Shinji Mikami

Personally, it seems like there has always been a good chunk of gaming fans who’ve always enjoyed playing Japanese games in that genre. And I know of at least one RPG franchise that has been pretty popular for as long as I can remember…Final Fantasy!

This information comes from a Game Informer news article…

“Rumor also has it that Nintendo’s stocking a surprise for its E3 presentation. We’ve heard about the 3DS and some sites report that the next major Zelda game is confirmed — so what else could it possibly be? A new Star Fox?”

In a way, I suppose this isn’t really a rumor at all. Nintendo always brings a few surprises to E3, good or bad. The 3DS will be a surprise in itself and I’m betting we’ll see some unexpected software for the system.

Tetsuya Nomura spoke about all things Kingdom Hearts in the latest Game Informer, including plans for future titles. Nomura confirmed that an announcement about a new game will be made at E3. However, the project probably isn’t in development for Wii as Normua said that there are no plans to bring the franchise to new systems. So again, that’s a “no” for Wii most likely, but the DS certainly has a shot.

One has to wonder if the reveal is a remake of Kingdom Hearts Coded, a mobile phone download that is only available in Japan. Phil Synder, the new voice actor for Jiminy Cricket, has a small blurb on his site which states that his first project is Recoded. Coded never made its way to North America and Nomura told Game Informer that with this latest game, he wanted to “do something for the North American fans.” Perhaps Recoded will finally allow North American players to get their hands on Coded, albeit in remake form.
