Today, Capcom posted an overview of its strategies and plans for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. As part of that, the company provides insight into growth strategies, and its focus going forward.

Capcom first highlights that, with new titles, it will “regularly release titles for major IP while also utilizing dormant IP and remakes”. Also a part of the company’s plan is to “extend sales life of catalog titles” and “strengthen digital downloads for both new and past titles”.

Gunpei Yokoi

Gunpei Yokoi was involved with many projects at Nintendo on both the hardware and software front back in the day. But around the time that the unsuccessful Virtual Boy launched, Yokoi left the company. As it turns out though, that system’s failure wasn’t a direct cause of his departure.

Yokoi wrote about leaving Nintendo in the November 1996 issue of Japanese magazine Bungeishunju. Livedoor recently republished his piece, which gives us a chance to hear from him directly.

Sonic the Hedgehog

CNBC recently caught up with Haruki Satomi, the president and CEO of SEGA. There was some interesting discussion between the two sides about trying to make a turnaround with Sonic the Hedgehog after disappointing fans in the past, and wanting to focus on quality. Satomi was also asked if he believes Sonic can beat Mario – which he thinks is possible – but also pointed out how they’ve teamed up in the past for the Olympics titles.

Below are a few notable excerpts from the interview with CNBC:

First 4 Figures is creating a new statue for Midna’s true form in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Yesterday, the company offered a first glimpse with a new video.

Pre-orders for the statue will be going live on May 11. We’ll be sure to bring you all of the relevant information next week.

This week’s episode of Nintendo Minute has gone live. In today’s video, Kit and Krysta head on over to GameStop, and talk about some games and more on the way there. Check out the full episode below.
