Turrican Rebirth is in development

The latest issue of Germany’s Retro Gamer has revealed that a new Turrican game is in development titled “Turrican Rebirth”. Like its predecessors, Rebirth will feature 2D gameplay, and functionality is in the works so that weapons and stages can be shared with others online.
Platforms are unknown, and Turrican Rebirth is just starting out, so we probably won’t be seeing this one for awhile. Interestingly, Retro Gamer indicates that the project’s right holders have been in touch with Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams maker Black Forest Games.

Yacht Club Games will be at PAX East, as will the studio’s first game – so it seems. The company posted a banner image to its Facebook page indicating that the unannounced title will be present in some form. First details will be revealed in the next issue of Nintendo Force.
Last week, Yacht Club announced the formation of the studio. Various members of WayForward joined Yacht – specifically Sean Velasco, Ian Flood, Lee McDole, Erin Pellon, Nick Wozniak, and David D’Angelo.
Thanks to Jake for the tip.
Azran Legacies sells more than Miracle Mask, but second-lowest Professor Layton debut in Japan
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, DS, News | 0 comments
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies launched in Japan a little more than a week ago. How’d it do? Well, while sales did see an improvement over Miracle Mask, the game’s debut is the second-worst in the series.
A look at Professor Layton’s series sales at a glance:
(2007) Professor Layton and the Curious Village – 136,736
(2007) Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box – 293,897
(2008) Professor Layton and the Unwound Future – 347,360
(2009) Professor Layton and the Last Specter – 306,473
(2011) Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask – 119,591
(2013) Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies – 130,686
Azran Legacies is supposedly the last main Professor Layton game. One has to wonder what Level-5 has in store for the IP going forward.
Rumor: New Crash Bandicoot in the works, heading to Wii U
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Podcast Stories, Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Let’s get this out of the way: take the rumor below with a huge grain of salt. Now that that’s out of the way, we can proceed!
Rumor has it that a countdown for a new Crash Bandicoot game launched preemptively before being pulled. Someone took a screenshot that is oddly low-quality and off-screen (already raising a red flag), which shows that the project is coming to “PlayStation”, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
Vicarious Visions is supposedly behind the new Crash Bandicoot. In January, a possible redesign for the character was spotted in an official photo from the studio, though there hasn’t been any official news concerning the IP.
Could there actually be a new Crash Bandicoot on the way? Or is this nothing more than a disappointing rumor?

Nicalis wants to know if you want Gero Blaster on 3DS
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News | 0 comments
Do you want Gero Blaster on 3DS and PS Vita? ?Gero Blaster??3DS?PS Vita??????????????
— Nicalis, Inc. (@nicalis) March 10, 2013
If Gero Blaster were to be released on 3DS, Nicalis would likely bring it over. The company previously ported Cave Story for the eShop and has a great relationship with Daisuke Amaya.
We’ve already seen a photo of Gero Blaster running on the 3DS. However, the game hasn’t necessarily been confirmed for the system. And so Nicalis would like to find out just how many people would be interested in seeing it on Nintendo’s handheld.
If you have a Twitter account, you can send a comment to Nicalis here.
