3DS battery life revealed

Posted on 13 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments

Update: A couple of more details: Battery life for DS games is five to eight hours. It will take three and a half hours to charge the 3DS.

On a number of occasions, Nintendo has stated that they would like to make the battery life of the 3DS comparable to that of the DS. However, it does not seem as though they were able to do so. According to Nintendo’s newly updated 3DS site, the battery life is listed as approximately three to five hours. This is quite different than the DS, though you have to wonder if different features will affect its performance. For instance, will turning all Wi-Fi capabilities off increase the battery life?

The information/image below comes from the latest Iwata Asks…

“And next are graphics of Nintendo characters generated in real time in the Nintendo 3DS system. This is the Circle Pad . You can change the camera angle with it.” – Satoru Iwata

Not official by any means, but it does appear likely that “Circle Pad” will be the final name for the 3DS analog stick. Not too big of a deal, though!

Thanks to Captain N for the tip!

This information comes from Nintendo public relations director Marc Franklin…

“We are gratified by the consumer response to this limited-edition product, which we created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game on NES. Because of the strong response, we are exploring the option of bringing this item back at a later date. Until that decision is made, consumers should check with retailers, as supplies will vary by store.”

I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to find a copy of Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition, so I tried to purchase the game right away. I wasn’t going to make the same mistake I did with Metroid Prime Trilogy (waited too long, eventually was out of stock…). How many of you picked up the Super Mario All-Stars package?

Hey folks – wanted to take a second to remind everything that Nintendo World 2011 will officially begin later this evening. Although most information about the 3DS will likely come from the January 19 event, there will be a number of stage presentations for upcoming titles and off-screen demo footage. We also heard rumblings earlier today that Nintendo will share more details on the Japanese launch lineup. In any case, make sure you stop by the site at 8 PM EST. I’m not sure if any news will be available immediately, but I’ll be here just in case!
