Civilization 7 1.2.1 update

A new 1.2.1 update has been announced for Civilization 7, which will be on Nintendo Switch soon. It’s slated for early June to coincide with the new Nintendo Switch 2 version.

The update brings along the new Pangaea Plus Map Type, several balance passes to leaders and civs, an expanded human player limit in multiplayer, and addresses a number of player-reported issues. The team is also continuing to improve the UI, refine AI behavior to make opponents more competitive, and tighten up overall game polish.

Here’s the full rundown:

Many third-party publishers are opting to launch their Nintendo Switch 2 titles as game-key card releases, but Marvelous is one of the few exceptions. Thus far, everything it has announced will be on a proper cartridge. That includes Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, and Daemon x Machina: Titanic Scion.

Ken Berry, co-founder and president/CEO of Marvelous USA/XSEED Games, haw now further discussed the situation in an interview with RPG Site. Although it wasn’t “an easy decision”, the company felt “our fans would much prefer the ROM option.”

Berry said:

A few days remain until the official Nintendo Switch 2 launch, but unsurprisingly, reports are starting to surface of some fans getting their hands on the system early. The thing is, it’s not actually functional right now.

YouTuber a2dubai posted a quick video showing an “unboxing” of the unit. There’s actually not much to see, however. We get a look at the main device and the Joy-Con 2, but that’s pretty much it.
