Nintendo now owns 100% of Xenoblade dev Monolith Soft

Nintendo already owned an overwhelming stake in Monolith Soft, but that number has now increased to 100%.
That news comes directly from the company’s website. The site now states that Nintendo fully owns the company. Previously, the stake amount was known to be at 96%. Founders Hirohide Sugiura, Tetsuya Takahashi, and Yasuyuki Honne held the last 4% previously.

Viper Phase 1 is this week’s Arcade Archives game on Nintendo Switch

Today, Hamster confirmed Viper Phase 1 as its latest Arcade Archives game on Nintendo Switch. It’ll be available everywhere tomorrow, December 12.
The vertical scrolling shooter was originally released by Seibu in 1995. This release of the title marks the first time it has been released on a home game console, and will feature both the old version and the remastered, arranged version.
The game will be sold digitally on the Switch eShop. Pricing is set at $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.29. Access more coverage on the Arcade Archives series here.

Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo update adds Mario Kart 8 Deluxe support

Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo just received a new update, and it’s added support for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. You can access it by connecting online and using your Nintendo Account.
Scenes from the Nintendo Switch racer will be available after doing so. Nintendo says that there are seven of them in total. You’ll get graphics and sounds from the game.

Inti Creates just announced a release date for Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark. The game will be out for Nintendo Switch on March 27, 2025.
A follow-up to Gal Guardians: Demon Purge, Servants of the Dark is a new 2D action Metroidvania adventure game. Online two-player co-op will be supported.

Burning Goat Studio made it known today that it’s upcoming project The Last Grape is in development for Nintendo Switch. There’s talk about it dropping in 2026, but that’s tentative at this time.
The Last Grape is an action adventure game in which, as expected, you play as a grape. As that grape (who’s a ninja by the way), you’ll be going on a revenge mission.

Today, Purple Play announced its new game Space Hunters for Nintendo Switch. Currently it’s targeting a Q1 2025 debut.

Statera Studio, in partnership with Wired Dreams Studio, announced that Arashi Gaiden is coming to Nintendo Switch. As of now it has a very tentative Q4 2025 release window.
Arashi Gaiden is a turn-based action game at its core. This one is actually set in the same world as Pocket Bravery and “expands the story of an important part of the game’s Japanese core.”
