You may recall that Nintendo announced the NX, which would turn out to be the Switch, in March 2015. It would take two full years for the platform to actually launch.

During an investor Q&A this week, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that this early announcement was “a special case”. The company announced early plans for mobile at the time, and wanted to make sure fans knew it wasn’t abandoning the dedicated video game platform business. Furukawa suggested that such early announcement won’t be necessary when it’s time to unveil the Switch successor.

According to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, there are currently no plans for a Switch price cut. That news was shared during a financial results Q&A session this week.

Furukawa was also asked to weigh in on game prices. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom costs $70 – the highest price for a Nintendo game yet. However, Furukawa said “this does not indicate a general increase in the price of our software” and reiterated that “the appropriate price of a product on a case-by-case basis.”


Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has commented on the impact of The Super Mario Bros. Movie on its business as well as what lies in store for the future.

Speaking during an investor Q&A this week, Furukawa stated that “the movie inspires interest in Mario games and has a positive effect on sales of Nintendo Switch hardware and software over the medium to long term.” He pointed to a growth in Mario merchandise and “a slight rise in activity for classic Mario titles that can be played through Nintendo Switch Online.”

Regarding the future, Furukawa teased plans for a “variety of visual content”.

Today marks the worldwide release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Nintendo have shared a launch trailer for the title, giving players another glimpse of what the game has to offer as they begin to experience it for themselves.

With the Bowser Tour soon to end, Nintendo has announced the next event coming to Mario Kart Tour. Said event will be a new Mii Tour and will feature the addition of new driver and kart elements, as well as the new GCN Mushroom Bridge course. This new Tour will go live on May 16, at 11 PM PST.

Marlon's Mystery: The Darkside of Crime

Original (5/2): Cooking and Publishing, along with indie studio Made in Mavis, announced today that they’re putting Marlon’s Mystery: The Darkside of Crime on Switch. It will be available in Q2 2023.

Marlon’s Mystery: The Darkside of Crime is a mystery and hidden object game “where players can test their investigative skills by solving riddles and uncovering hidden objects.” Continue on below for a lengthier rundown.

Nintendo Treehouse Live - The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom live stream

A special Nintendo Treehouse: Live event is being held to celebrate the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and the official live stream is ready to go. The fun kicks off at 6:45 PM PT / 9:45 PM ET / 2:45 AM in the UK / 3:45 AM in Europe.

Gameplay will kick off the proceedings. Nintendo says that the “segments avoid story spoilers but will show some gameplay and areas that have not yet been shown to help prepare players for the adventure to come.” After the footage is shown, there’ll be more content counting down to the release.

Protodroid DeLTA release date

Original (2/18): Today, publisher Humble Games and developer Adam Kareem announced a final release date for Protodroid DeLTA. The 3D action platformer is due out on April 27, 2023.

Protodroid DeLTA was originally announced for Switch in 2020. It was originally targeted for the following year, but extra development time was needed.

Sonic the Hedgehog Tails Nendoroid

We previously heard about the Tails Nendoroid for Sonic the Hedgehog, and we now have news about the release date and pre-orders – but there are new photos as well.

Tails comes with the eye parts glancing right, glancing left, and happy. The mouth parts are smile with an open mouth and smile with a closed mouth. Finally, as for optional parts, you’ll be getting goggle, a wrench, and the Chaos Emerald.
