Call of Duty: Ghosts patch out now for Wii U

Treyarch has prepared a new title update for Call of Duty: Ghosts – it’s out now on Wii U.
The patch adds a GamePad Scoreboard panel and allows individual players to be muted by tapping the speaker icon next to their name on the GamePad Scoreboard. Several fixes have been implemented as well.

Ubisoft talks game delays

Ubisoft’s holiday lineup was dealt a huge blow after the publisher announced a delay for Watch_Dogs. Originally slated for November, the title was pushed to Q2 2014.
As is always the case when a game is moved back, fans were disappointed with the news. Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc mentioned to Examiner, however, that having the extra time for development “will ensure we launch a better game.”
He said:
“There are definitely times when we have to make tough decisions, such as moving a launch date, as it initially upsets some in our community but ultimately will ensure we launch a better game.
“A great game, such as Far Cry 3 last year or Rayman Legends this year, has to have the time and resources to make sure it’s done right. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and see this next-generation transition as another opportunity to grow, gain market share and create amazing experiences for our fans.
“We believe that ultimately, it’s our fans that help influence our franchises, our business and our success. If we create compelling experiences, listen to our fans and make smart business decisions with them in mind, we will win the race.”

Image & Form planning three new SteamWorld games

Image & Form is not planning just one, but a total of three new SteamWorld titles.
We’ve already known about one, which has only been teased in recent months. However, a tweet from the studio confirms that additional entries in the series are in the pipeline as well.

New version of AfterZoom coming to the 3DS eShop

In 2011, Abylight published “AfterZoom” for DSiWare. The company has now announced a reworked version set for the 3DS eShop, PS Vita, mobile, and Windows platforms.
AfterZoom’s updated release will offer cartoon-styled visuals, new activities, and a revamped interface. One new stage has players testing organisms through mini-games.
AfterZoom’s new version is due out in June 2014.
Hideki Kamiya explains why he doesn’t work on sequels

Hideki Kamiya has a habit of working on original projects rather than sequels. As an example, he created Devil May Cry but wasn’t involved with the sequel. Platinum Games is also developing Bayonetta 2 without Kamiya, even though he directed the first one.
Kamiya explained to Famitsu recently that it’s not a matter of him not wanting to work on sequels. Rather, working on brand new titles allows him to create “new entertainment”. Kamiya mentioned how Viewtiful Joe and Okami may not have been made if he worked on Devil May Cry 2, while The Wonderful 101 may never have existed if he decided to direct Bayonetta 2.
“It’s not that I don’t want to make sequels – I really do! But considering the nature of my position, I don’t really get a chance to. Somebody needs to offer new entertainment to gamers and do the work of sowing seeds that can later grow to be strong pillars. It sounds a little overblown, but I’ve come to believe that is my purpose. If I had been involved with Devil May Cry 2, then Viewtiful Joe and Okami might never have been made. If I was directing Bayonetta 2, then I wouldn’t have been able to make The Wonderful 101.”

Extended maintenance taking place on Nintendo’s online services next Monday

Nintendo is planning some heavy maintenance for its online services next Monday. Between 9 AM PT and 8 PM PT, the Wii U/3DS eShops, Wii Shop Channel, and DSi Shop will be affected. Perhaps Nintendo is gearing up for the 3DS’ upcoming firmware update?
