Secret Tunnel Entertainment is bringing its PC action-arcade game “Shapes of Gray” to Wii U. A release is planned for early 2015.

Here’s an official overview of Shapes of Gray from the game’s developer:

Shapes of Gray is a fast-paced, stripped-down arcade game where you descend through a series of seconds-long levels, with a unique combat-puzzle in each one. I’ve heard it described as “the WarioWare of Dark Souls,” which I think is fitting.

For example, one level might pit your gray blob against two highly-explosive circles and an almighty square, who can only be defeated by slashing the weak point on his back. You could take care the two circles separately and then maneuver around to the square’s backside–but with only a few seconds to clear the level, wouldn’t it be smarter (and faster!) to bat one of the circles into the square to destroy him in the ensuing explosion?

Shapes of Gray for Wii U will add new modes, levels, and unlockables. Additionally, Secret Tunnel Entertainment is including off-TV play and Miiverse support.

More information about Shapes of Gray will be shared in the coming weeks.

Nocturnal Entertainment’s Michael Shamgar has shared a sales update for Flowerworks HD: Follie’s Adventure. Although no specific figures were revealed, Shamgar did offer the following information to Nintendo Life:

  • US sales started strongly, but tailed off rapidly after the initial launch sale ended. Price has now been dropped to $4 USD.
  • European sales have been a real surprise — released two and half months later in EU — outselling the US lifetime figures by 50% within 3 weeks.
  • Total sales are now close to 50% WiiWare (unit) lifetime sales, which has been available for around 5 years.

Nocturnal does have an idea in mind for its next games. The studio is currently working on a story-focused title, though “a smaller, simpler arcade game” may come first.

According to Shamgar:

We have a “story-driven” game in the concept stage, but that’s likely to be a big project that may need a lot of funding and development effort.

We may release a smaller, simpler arcade game based around user-generated content (level editor will come with the game). I’m very interested in the potential of using the GamePad for all forms of user content creation, extending to a complete game creation system.

Dakko Dakko is currently cooking up an update for Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails.

The company’s Rhodri Broadbent took to Miiverse and explained what will be included in the update. Players can expect improved balance in stages, easier double-jumping, more entertaining and rewarding mutant mice to battle, and more strategic encounters with Mouse Commanders. Dakko Dakko also fixed a few stage progression problems.

At the moment, Scram Kitty’s update is getting its last few “finishing touches”.
