Wild Hearts S sequel

The developers behind Wild Hearts S have spoken more about the game, including the decision to shy away from introducing new content and wanting to make a sequel.

Japanese magazine Famitsu recently spoke with director Takuto Edagawa about the release. One of the topics brought up is how on Nintendo Switch 2, there’s now support for four players whereas the original version only supported three. Koei Tecmo was able to fulfill its original vision and also responded to requests for that additional player slot.

Edagawa said the following:

The developers behind Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster have spoken about why Square Enix revisited the game for Nintendo Switch 2.

You can actually chalk this one up to timing. Square Enix was thinking about ways to celebrate the series’ tenth anniversary, which could have happened with a new game or a remake. Square Enix ultimately settled on a remaster, and it just so happened that the development schedule overlapped with Nintendo Switch 2’s launch.

Bravely series producer Tomoya Asano and HD Remaster producer Naofumi Matsushita shared the following in a recent interview:

The July 2025 Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase aired earlier this week, and following the event, we’re interested in hearing about what you thought of the show.

This wasn’t a general Nintendo Direct, meaning the Big N itself wasn’t really present here. We did get to see Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, but that was all. Third-parties did show up with their own announcements – Monster Hunter Stories 3, Octopath Traveler, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, Persona 3 Reload, Pac-Man World Re-Pac 2, and Once Upon A Katamari were shown. You can catch up on everything that was featured here.

So what’d you think of the July 2025 Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase? What were your highlights? Let us know in the comments.

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Aqua Forest

Another track reveal for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and today, SEGA showed off Aqua Forest. A clip of the stage was shown off on social media.

We’ve seen plenty of forest tracks in racers before, but SEGA indicates that this one is like a rollercoaster through the forest. The company also teased: “Nail your timing on the water jumps and something special awaits…”

Nintendo Switch 2 backwards compatibility fixes August 2025

This week, Nintendo issued its latest backwards compatibility fixes for a few Switch 1 games on Switch 2 stemming from the latest firmware patch. It’s not as large a batch as the previous wave, but this shows that the company is committed to further improvements where possible.

The latest list is as follows:

System: Switch 2
Release date: July 24, 2025
Developer: Nintendo Cube
Publisher: Nintendo

Back when I reviewed Super Mario Party Jamboree last year, I called it “biggest and best Mario Party game that Nintendo has made in a very long time. Beyond that, it’s probably my personal favorite in the series; whenever I have friends or family over and we decide to boot up a party game, there’s a very good chance Jamboree will be in the rotation. I was very open to the idea of an enhanced version of the game for the Switch 2, and one that takes advantage of the console’s new features such as mouse controls and the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera with some fresh modes and minigames. Unfortunately, an upgrade that should have been a slam dunk doesn’t bring enough new content or features to justify its own existence as a paid upgrade.

Almost three years after their original release, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have received a performance patch on Nintendo Switch 2. Today, we’re talking all about its improvements.

It’s no secret that things haven’t exactly been smooth sailing for the Pokemon series on Nintendo Switch. The release of Pokemon Sword and Shield saw one of the franchise’s biggest controversies yet – for the first time, a majority of Pokemon were cut and made completely unavailable in the game. That would be somewhat understandable on its own, but the developers went on to explain that those Pokemon were cut so the team could focus on “high-quality animations”. That statement sort of led more “dedicated” Pokemon fans to view the games with increased scrutiny, and the series hasn’t had the same reception since. When Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launched on Nintendo Switch 2, players did notice that the games were ambitious with their new open world – but its implementation drew criticism, and of course the games’ subpar performance and low visual quality were noted as well.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.

May 11: SEGA is bringing Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. to Nintendo Switch 2, the company just announced. A release window was not provided.

According to SEGA, “Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. takes the gameplay of Virtua Fighter 5 and raises it to new levels”. It features additional content, rollback netcode support, and more. Cross-play will be supported across all platforms.

Reanimal Collector's Edition

Reanimal has been delayed on all platforms – including Nintendo Switch 2 – though THQ Nordic and Tarsier are softening the blow with news about a collector’s edition and a new trailer.

Last we heard, the project was planned for this year. Now we’ll be seeing it in Q1 2026 instead – a final date will be provided later.

We have a look at the collector’s edition above. It comes with the game, season pass and pre-order DLC, art book, exclusive box, PVC statue “Pig”, PVC mini statue “Bucket”, stickers, keychain, and a map poster. Pre-orders are live for the collector’s edition as well as a deluxe edition here.

Here’s an overview of the game:
