London GAME store hosts New Super Mario Bros. 2 event, 17 – 18 August 2012
17th August 2012 – Coin Rush! Nintendo is today announcing an exclusive gaming event on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th August at GAME, Oxford Street to celebrate the launch of New Super Mario Bros. 2 on Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL. The coin-littered side-scrolling platform game will be taking over the store, giving fans the chance to be one of the first to play the game in the dedicated New Super Mario Bros. 2 Gold World at GAME.
To add to the excitement, fans will be given the opportunity to have their face painted by special in-store face paint artists to help them get into the spirit! What’s more, there will be exclusive giveaways on offer for anyone who trials the game.
Nintendo has shared a tiny bit of Japanese sales data for the digital sales of New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Onitore.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 downloads account for 5% of the game’s total sales. Onitore’s percentage is a bit higher, coming in at 20%.
One important note: we’re not entirely sure if these figures account for all digital sales. Specifically, it isn’t clear if they include the sales of download cards available at retailers.
Amazon has a pretty decent pre-order price for The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia. You can pre-order the art book for $20.99 (and about $4 shipping). It’ll be sold for $34.99 at most retailers, so you will be saving quite a bit.
If interested, you can pre-order Hyrule Historia here.
Metroid: Other M was a very unique collaboration for Nintendo. Never before had the company worked with an outside studio for a new entry in one of its major franchises.
Although the title saw a mixed reception, Team Ninja studio head Yosuke Hayashi does have interest in working on another Metroid project with Yoshio Sakamoto.
Hayashi said:
“Unfortunately Metroid is kind of out of our league as it’s Nintendo’s game, but we’re still in close touch with co-creator Sakamoto-san, so we want to do something with him moving forward definitely. It really depends on what he wants to do with the game first.”
A special Pikachu-themed 3DS XL will be available in Japan next month. Pokemon Center will be selling the system exclusively for 18,900 yen.
Those who are interested can pre-order the 3DS XL at any Pokemon Center between August 25 and September 14. It will only be released to those who reserve the hardware on September 15.
