Master the Sword in Link’s Newest Motion-Controlled Adventure for Wii
REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo’s celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda™ series continues in full force with the announcement that The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword will launch in North America on Nov. 20. The epic adventure, created from the ground up for the Wii™ console, sends this storied series to new heights and marks a turning point for the franchise.
The game uses the precision motion controls of the Wii Remote™ Plus (or a Wii Remote controller with a Wii MotionPlus™ accessory) and Nunchuk™ controllers to map on-screen action to the player’s movements. When a player swings the Wii Remote Plus controller, Link™ appears to swing his sword in exactly the same way.
These screenshots aren’t of Razor’s Edge, though we can expect the graphics to look similar. The main difference we’ve heard about for the Wii U version pertains to the controls. Team Ninja will be developing Razor’s Edge so that it will support traditional controls and controls similar to what was presented in Dragon’s Sword for the DS.

THQ isn’t planning on supporting Wii U just for the sake of getting their content onto a new platform. According to Danny Bilson, the company is “committed to that platform so long as our developers find really interesting ways to use the controller so that it’s a unique experience and much more than a port.”
When asked if he’s excited about Wii U or THQ sees the console as just another box to tick, Bilson said:
“No, I’m excited about it. I like the controller quite a bit. We’re committed to that platform, so long as our developers find really interesting ways to use the controller so that it’s a unique experience and much more than a port.
“Obviously, even to port some of the stuff over could be very profitable, but we’re really looking to use it. I mean, Darksiders 2 has a very deep loot and inventory system, and having that live and not having to click out of your screen is really a bonus in a game like that. And that’s just one really simple example. Some of the two-player stuff in the living room on independent screens where you can’t see each other is another one.
“And then there’s the things you can do with motion sensors, and using the screen as a window – there’s all kinds of fun stuff. Even Nintendo had some fun stuff at E3 in their demo, throwing stuff from that screen to the other screen, things like that. You’re going to see that in a bunch of our core games. As many as it makes sense.”
16th August 2011 – With the launch of Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii just a few days away, fans of the epic RPG have plenty to get excited about as Nintendo launches new Let’s Play episodes on the game’s YouTube Channel, and Club Nintendo members who register the game can look forward to downloading the official soundtrack.
Anyone eager to explore more of the expansive world of Xenoblade Chronicles will be glad to find out that new episodes in the Let’s Play series are launching on the Xenoblade Chronicles YouTube Channel this week. Episode 3 takes viewers deep into the Ether Mine to explore the empowering benefits of crafting gems from ether crystals, while Episode 4 will show how the player’s efforts in helping to rebuild the ruined Colony 6 can have significant impact on the way the game develops, later this week.
THQ has been quiet about the Wii version of WWE ’12. The company showcased the game at a preview event earlier this week, but didn’t have the Wii version on display. THQ also isn’t talking about it in general – they won’t even confirm if it’ll have the same features as the PS3/360 versions.
