–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo:

WHAT:

New York’s famed Rockefeller Center® will be the epicenter of an over-the-top Pokémon™ celebration as Nintendo prepares to launch the new Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems across North America. On March 5, at the Nintendo® World store, fans will gather for a spectacular launch event and the chance to be among the first in the nation to buy the games in advance of their official March 6 release.

The event will offer attendees an interactive experience that will take consumers through stations featuring game-play kiosks, depictions of the games’ new starter and Legendary Pokémon, a download area for the Liberty Pass which enables players to get the new Mythical Pokémon Victini in the Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games, a photo booth and a special collection of never-before-seen Pokémon artwork. Multiplayer

– Multiplayer mode is called “Naval Battle Mode”
– Multiplayer set up like a turn-based gridded strategy game
– Can’t see your opponents ships at the start
– Mode supports download play
– You and your opponent have a set of submarines, freighter ships and escort ships
– Submarines are the only ships that can enter enemy territory
– Escort ships can attack enemy subs who’ve crossed over
– Freighters can’t engage in combat
– You lose if all of your freighters sink
– Mode begins by moving your subs into enemy territory
– Guess where they might be located
– Map will be marked in pink and yellow to show areas that might have enemy ships as you approach
– Can use sonar to get a more precise idea of enemy position
– Your position will be shown if you do this
– Switch to periscope mode to attack after determining an enemy’s precision
– Sub will come under attack by enemy escort ships if you are spotted

Submarine mode

– Navigate a sub in a horizontal view
– Have access to three subs:
Manatee ND-01: Capable of firing torpedoes upwards.
Blue Shark ND-03: Can fire two torpedos. Also has control for changing angle.
Serpent ND-05: Has the most fire power, with four torpedos.
– Ship will come under attack as you make your way through the waters
– Leaks may develop if you get hit by enemy torpedoes or mines
– Control of the ship will be lost if this occurs
– Need to use the stylus to touch the area that’s leaking and plug the leak.

Periscope mode

– Move the 3DS around like a periscope to aim and fire at enemy ships
– Battle ships above and below water
– Will have to rely on sonar to track down enemies when under water due to very poor visibility
– Battle in storms as well
