Nintendo has announced another new Switch game. This time, we have details about Arms for the console.

The lowdown:

– Fighting sports game
– Uses extendable arms for battle
– Like boxing
– Also like shooting
– Hold one Joy-Con in each hand in a thumbs up pose
– The Joy-Con senses your motions; when you punch, your character punches
– When you twist your first, your punch curves
– Can pursue a distant enemy this way
– Move your character by tilting the Joy-Con
– Combine dashes and jumps to perform different actions
– Play locally, online
– Out this spring

Nintendo has announced 1-2 Switch, a mini-game compilation of sorts for its new console.

– Fun for everyone, gameplay made possible by the Joy-Cons

Nintendo has announced that different colors are planned for Switch Joy-Cons. They also have sensing / vibrating tech.

Here are some fresh details about the Switch Joy-Cons from today’s presentation:

– NFC reader in right Joy-Con that can read amiibo
– Square button on left Joy-Con lets you capture screenshots of gameplay
– Will let you capture video as well
– Share screenshots with friends over social media
– Each Joy-Con has accelerometer and gyro sensors
– SL and SR buttons that lets you use each Joy-Con as its own controller

TV mode

– Play games on TV in typical style

Tabletop mode

– Stand Switch console up with kickstand and play with Joy-Con
– Play games in front of a screen with others even away from TV

Handheld mode

– Attach Joy-Cons to the system
– Can take it with you, outdoors, anywhere you like
– Share Joy-Con with someone else

– Battery life 2.5 – 6.5 hours
– Can play while charging system with AC adapter and USB certified batteries
– Touch panel
– Can connect over Wi-Fi for battles
– 8 systems can be connected for local wireless

Nintendo shared the first details about its online services today for Switch:

– Can use smart device to invite friends to play online, chat with friends, etc.
– Users can try out service for free at launch
– Paid service this fall

Also revealed today is that all game software will be region free.

Nintendo announced way back in April 2016 that Switch would be launching worldwide this March. Today, the company finally revealed a final release date.

Switch will arrive in stores on March 3. Pricing is set at $299.99.

As of tomorrow, GameStop stores will begin accepting pre-orders for Switch. Thankfully, it now looks like various locations are putting up notices indicating how many units they have available. The number should give consumers a better idea about the pre-order situation.
