[Review] Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker

System: 3DS
Release: May 5, 2015
Developer: Atlus
Publisher: Atlus
Author: Dennis
When you think demons, you think about terrible sentient monsters that aim to do nothing but torture you and inevitably drive you to death. But what if you were put in a position where the very thing that’s nurtured to torment and cause perpetual trepidation becomes the cause and reason for your survival in a world that’s quickly dissipating?
Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker wants you to experience this firsthand, with an extensive and elaborate narrative that shapes itself by how you choose to respond to certain situations, whether it be during gameplay in the battlefields set all around Japan, or during a cut-scene where you’re sometimes prompted to choose how to respond when interacting with another character. This is a game that wants you to be personally invested, to the point where they let you name your character, both first name and last. You’re only given a certain amount of spaces to input your name, but most names should fit with ease like mine did – Keanu Reeves.

Rumor: Atlus PR manager says Legend of Legacy is heading overseas
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 7 Comments
The Legend of Legacy appears to be coming west. During the latest Shin Megami Tensei Network podcast, Atlus PR manager John Hardin apparently let it slip that the RPG is being localized.
Hardin said:
We did announce The Legend of Legacy is coming over here, and we have another one in the can too that I can’t talk about just yet. But another really niche Japanese game that actually isn’t out yet, we’re bringing that over for the 3DS later this year. What could it be?
Regarding the other mystery 3DS title, it’s possible that Hardin may have been referring to Stella Glow. Some people are speculating that he may have forgotten which of those two 3DS games Atlus had already announced. Stella Glow was confirmed for the west just over a month ago, while The Legend of Legacy still hasn’t been officially announced for North America and Europe. That could be changing soon.

toi8 on his new challenge with Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, a bit on character designs
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 8 Comments
toi8 is busy helping out with Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem’s character designs. On his official blog, toi8 spoke about what the project means to him, and touched on how it’s a new challenge for him.
Hello. I’m toi8, and I’ll be in charge of the main character designs for Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. As for when we began talking about this title, it was around the time I finished working on a piece of light novel cover art. It was around the time that I was handling one-shot work, and asked myself “what should I do next?”
As part of the generation that grew up on Nintendo consoles such as the Famicom and Super Famicom, the name “Nintendo” has a very special meaning to me. I remember being very excited upon hearing about the [Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem] collaboration.
Years later, I’ve finally been able to see it take form right before my eyes, and I find myself filled with deep emotion.
Now, let’s quickly talk a little bit about the character designs. The stage of the game is set in Shibuya, and the background shows a gorgeous world, so the character design’s direction will go with a highly saturated, gorgeous look.
Everything I’ve drawn up until now has been low saturation, so this will be a challenge of colors!
