E3 2018

Nintendo finished the first day of the E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles with two competitive champions and a host of bonus announcements that built on today’s Nintendo Direct: E3 2018 video presentation.

Nintendo crowned ZeRo of Chile the champion of the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 tournament. A longtime player of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, ZeRo defeated seven other top-ranked Super Smash Bros. players from around the world to successfully defend his title from Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Invitational in 2014. ZeRo emerged as the top player of the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game for the Nintendo Switch system. In the final match, ZeRo used Mario to defeat runner-up MkLeo of Mexico, who played as Sonic.

Super Smash Bros. for Switch is obviously a sure thing here. Nintendo hasn’t confirmed any other titles, but possibilities include Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eeevee, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Metroid Prime 4, and others.

We’ll also have a live blog going below, which I’ll be passing over to Josh if all goes well. New announcements will be added to the site as they come in, with full coverage to follow the rest of the day and through Thursday.

As for what we can look forward to today, Starlink: Battle for Atlas should definitely be present. We’ll probably get a new Just Dance game. Will we receive a final release date for the Mario + Rabbids Donkey Kong DLC? Anything else for Switch owners? We’ll have answers to these questions very soon.

Bandai Namco has announced its lineup for E3 2018. Theater presentations and playable demos are lined up for My Hero: One’s Justice, Jump Force, Soulcalibur VI and Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Code Vein.

Here’s the rundown of each title:
