Pokemon GO surpasses 50 million installs on Android

Pokemon GO has now reached yet another major milestone. The app has officially surpassed 50 million installs on Android, and currently sits somewhere between that number and 100 million.
Pokemon GO’s previous milestone on Android was 10 million. That happened back on July 12.

Pokemon GO has arrived in yet another new territory. Earlier today, Niantic made the game available to download in France. It should be out now on both iOS and Android.

Select GameStop stores holding Pokemon GO lure events this weekend once again

GameStop is looking to capitalize on Pokemon GO success once more. Just like last week, select locations will be hosting lure events on Saturday and Sunday. Stores will be dropping lures every two hours between 10 AM and 8 PM. Find a GameStop nearby through the link here.
Pokemon GO has done quite well for GameStop. CEO Paul Raines said stores that were either PokeStops or Gyms resulted in a big sales spike last weekend.

Apple announces Pokemon GO iTunes record – more downloads in first week than any other app in history

Pokemon GO has been breaking records left and right, but unofficially so. Today, however, Apple has come forward confirming an official milestone for the popular game. Polygon reports that it has more downloads in its first week than any other app in history through iTunes.
It’s not entirely clear how many times Pokemon GO has been downloaded, at least officially. The last number reported from Sensor Tower earlier in the week was 30 million across iOS and Android.

Pokemon GO – nearly 3,000 McDonald’s are PokeStops or Gyms in Japan

Pokemon GO has launched in Japan, and so has the collaboration with McDonald’s. The fast food restaurant announced its exclusive partnership that has all 2,900 restaurants showing up in the game’s app. About 400 of the restaurants are Gyms, while the other 2,500 are PokeStops.

Pokemon GO already #1 gross on iOS in Japan

Pokemon GO just released in Japan, and has already managed to skyrocket to the top of the charts. The game is already at the top grossing position on iOS. In Japan, the mobile market can be lucrative, so this is great news for all parties involved.

Pokemon GO – message from the creators, no change in Nintendo forecast

Pokemon GO is now available in Japan. To celebrate, Niantic’s John Hanke and Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda shared a few words. Most of the message is from Hanke, though Masuda’s comments are unfortunately available in Japanese only.
In any case, here’s the video:
Aside from the video, Nintendo issued a notice on its investor’s website about its forecast in response to Pokemon GO. Essentially, things are staying the same from now. You can read the full message below.

Pokémon GO no longer accepting gym/PokéStop applications, can request removal

Niantic has currently stopped accepting requests for new gyms and PokéStops in Pokémon GO. Furthermore, there is now a form with which people can request gyms and stops to be removed from the game. That can be accessed here. This will hopefully improve the game by removing these from inappropriate, unsafe, or private places.

The wait for Pokemon GO in Japan is finally over, for the most part. We’re hearing that the game’s servers are now live throughout the country. There don’t appear to be download links yet, but those who nabbed the game through the likes of APK files have already started to play.
