Reggie Fils-Aime

At almost every edition of The Game Awards, Nintendo has been involved in a big way. Aside from 2015, the company has always brought at least one new thing to the show.

Reggie briefly talked with L.A. Times about the importance of The Game Awards. Speaking with the publication, Reggie noted how it’s important “to step back and recognize the incredible artistic achievements that bring joy to millions of people worldwide”, and the event “is our way of recognizing the fun and beauty of video games, along with the talented people who create them.”

Nintendo published a new video today featuring Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime and Doug Bowser, senior VP of sales and marketing. The two participated in “The Nintendo Guessing Game” to how well they know each other. View the full video below.

The Super NES Classic Edition has been in much better supply compared to its predecessor, the original NES Classic Edition. However, that doesn’t mean units are readily available. Many consumers are still having trouble finding the hardware in stores.

Thankfully, as we know, Nintendo is handling the situation with the SNES Classic Edition fairly well. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told The Washington Post that the company is working to have a regular supply for the rest of the year. This also applies to Switch as well.

Currently there is no easy way of backing up save data on Switch. If your system experiences a major issue for whatever reason, your saves may very well be in jeopardy. That naturally raises concerns for Switch owners. When you’ve poured hundreds of hours into games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, you don’t want to lose all of that progress.

Mashable brought up the issue in an interview with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. Reggie acknowledged that Nintendo is aware of these concerns, though there’s nothing to announce about backing up save data at present.

Reggie noted the following:

Switch owners discovered a fantastic Easter egg several weeks ago. On July 11, Golf can be accessed on the system by motioning the Joy-Con in a certain way. Basically, you need to perform the “direct” motion late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata used to show in Nintendo Direct presentations.

Kotaku recently asked Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime about the Easter egg. Oddly though, he was fairly quiet about it and wouldn’t really comment on the tribute specifically.

Here’s what Reggie said:

Fast Company is the latest outlet to have shared an interview with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. Reggie was asked about the lack of certain features for Switch, what people should be getting excited about for 2018, the Universal partnership, and more.

We’ve posted these highlights from the interview below. For the full discussion, head on over to Fast Company here.

From the collaborations with Vans, Uniqlo, and LeSportsac in the fashion world to the recent crossover Mario + Rabbids title to the Super Nintendo World project with Universal Studios, it might be hard to remember a time when Nintendo seemed reserved in terms of joint ventures.

However, in a recent interview with Mashable, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime reasons that the company’s early experiences licensing its properties left a long-lasting, negative impression on many of Nintendo’s developers.

He explains:

Forbes has a new interview up with Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America. Reggie was asked about what we can expect from Nintendo Switch Online as well as the company’s back catalog. He also commented further on why Switch has been in short supply and the importance of the first-party Switch games out of the gate.

Nintendo kicked off Switch’s launch with a bang thanks to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. If that wasn’t enough, Super Mario Odyssey has arrived just in time for the holidays. These two games have helped made Switch’s first year very special.

Reggie spoke about having Zelda and Mario ready early on for Switch in an interview with TechCrunch. He noted that Nintendo was lucky in terms of the development schedule, with a game like Breath of the Wild being far along in development.

Kotaku caught up with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, who touched on a whole bunch of topics in an interview. These include the release date for the next Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC (coming soon), if we’ll see classic games on Switch, the closing of Miiverse, and the lack of My Nintendo rewards for Switch.
