In celebration of the 2016 Tokyo Game Show, the first trailer is in for SEGA 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage. Watch it below.

SEGA 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage launches in Japan on December 22. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, After Burner II, Super Hang-On, Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes, and Turbo Outrun are confirmed for the package.

Update (8/31): Now that Famitsu is out, it seems that Turbo OutRun is also included.

Original (8/30): Today, SEGA revealed, via Famitsu, the third SEGA 3D Classics Collection game for Nintendo 3DS, called “SEGA 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage” in Japan. Like previous editions, this game will also feature several classic SEGA games remastered to work with the 3DS’ stereoscopic 3D, alongside various other improvements.

The following games, among others, will be included in the collection: After Burner II, Super Hang-On, Bare Kunckle II, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Gunstar Heroes.

Also included will be the most requested game from a survey that came with the previous game. Famitsu did not reveal that game, however they did reveal the games that placed fifth through second in that survey:

2. Virtua Racing

3. OutRunners

4. Gain Ground

5. Wing War

Finally, the game will also include the following games, which are already available on the 3DS eShop: 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 3D Afterburner II, 3D Streets of Rage 2, 3D Gunstar Heroes and 3D Super Hang-on.

Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage will be released in Japan on December 22nd. A Western release date has not yet been announced.

When Sega announced their line of remastered “Classics” for the 3DS, the one I was really holding out for was Out Run. Being born in an era where arcades barely mattered, I’d only had a single chance to play the original arcade cabinet so my familiarity with the game mostly came from the fact that it has already been ported to just about every console in existence. While most of these ports captured the game’s relaxed feel and addictive gameplay, they did vary wildly in quality so I was curious to see how well this 3DS version stacked up. Is it faithful to Yu Suzuki’s original classic?

Well yeah, of course. The emulation experts at M2 always go to crazy lengths to get the small details accurate as possible while throwing in heaps of extra content and hidden bonuses. What really surprised me was how well Out Run holds up in the year 2015.

M2 and SEGA are cooking up another round of 3D Classics for Japan. We’ve kind of heard about this vaguely in the past, but SEGA CS3 producer Yosuke Okunari seems to have officially confirmed the news on Twitter. If the new games succeed in Japan, Okunari says we could see them launch in other parts of the world.
